On the afternoon of September 14 (local time), within the framework of an official visit to the Republic of South Africa, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with Secretary General of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) Fikile Mbalula at Luthuli House, the party's headquarters in Johannesburg.
The Vice President affirmed that Vietnam highly appreciates the role of the ANC in South Africa and expressed his impression of South Africa's development achievements under the leadership of the ANC.
The Vice President believes that with the extensive experience of the ANC, the support of the South African people and international friends, the ANC and the South African Government will gain even greater achievements on the path of national construction and development.
On this occasion, the Vice President congratulated the ANC on successfully organizing the 4th BRICS Political Parties Dialogue Conference in July, demonstrating the increasing prestige and position of the ANC in the international arena.
Warmly welcoming the Vice President to visit the ANC headquarters, Secretary General Fikile Mbalula expressed his admiration for Vietnam's cause of national liberation and unification. He emphasized that the victory of the Communist Party and the people of Vietnam is a source of inspiration, motivation and strength for the ANC and the people of South Africa in the struggle for freedom and equality, towards building a democratic, fair and prosperous South Africa.
ANC Secretary General Mbalula affirmed that he always values the solidarity and friendship that Vietnam has shown for South Africa's past struggle and affirmed the consistent policy of the ANC as well as the South African Government in promoting comprehensive good cooperation with the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Government of Vietnam in the coming time.
At the meeting, both sides appreciated the traditional friendship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the ANC, which was formed in the 1960s, before the two countries officially established diplomatic relations, and is now increasingly developing and becoming more substantial, playing a role in guiding the general relationship between the two countries.
The two sides agreed that in the coming time, the two Parties and the two States need to increase delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels; promote the exchange of experiences in leadership and management of the country and party building; closely coordinate at international political and party forums of which the two Parties are members; facilitate economic cooperation activities for the benefit of the people of the two countries; become a bridge for each other to expand cooperative relations with the two regions, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the world.
On this occasion, through the Secretary General of the ANC, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan conveyed the regards and invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai to ANC Chairman, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula to pay an official visit to Vietnam at an appropriate time.

On this occasion, the Vice President presented the ANC Party Secretary General with a book by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, "Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam."
Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula expressed his gratitude and believed that the book is a valuable source of information to enhance understanding of Vietnam's innovation and development.
The ANC party secretary general sent condolences over the serious fire that just occurred in Hanoi, taking the lives of 56 people.

Previously, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan had a meeting with South African businesses. Attending the meeting were South African Ambassador to Vietnam Vuyiswa Tulelo, President of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) Mtho Xulu, SACCI General Director Alan Mukoki and representatives of many businesses in various fields including pharmaceuticals, fruit cultivation and export, fresh agricultural product export, coal and ferroalloy production and representatives of the KwaZulu-Natal provincial trade and investment promotion agency.
At the reception, the Vice President expressed his joy at visiting the Rainbow Country, especially on the occasion of the two countries celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations.
The Vice President highly appreciated the position and role of South Africa as a locomotive and an important transit gateway for goods in the southern African region. According to the Vice President, the two countries need to continue promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation in the coming time to match the potential of the two countries, with a market of over 160 million people.

The Vice President suggested that, with the important role of connecting and supporting businesses of both sides to promote cooperation, SACCI and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry should strengthen cooperation, promote the exchange of ministerial-level delegations on trade and investment, increase information exchange on the legal framework of each country and encourage businesses of both sides to connect and participate in fairs and exhibitions.
Also at the reception, representatives of businesses and localities warmly welcomed the Vice President of Vietnam to visit South Africa and introduced the industry strengths as well as the investment and trade potential of the locality.
According to the representatives, Vietnam and South Africa have great potential to promote trade and investment cooperation and increase the exchange of goods and services. The representatives expressed their desire to have more opportunities to learn about the Vietnamese market as well as increase information between the two countries.
