Increase supervision and ensure student rights

Báo Đại Đoàn KếtBáo Đại Đoàn Kết06/03/2025

Hanoi maintains two methods for enrolling students in preschool, first grade, and sixth grade: online and in-person. A new feature this year is that all schools must implement online registration to avoid long queues and crowding while submitting applications.

Fairness and objectivity in admissions

According to the plan approved by the Hanoi People's Committee, in the 2025-2026 school year, the city will maintain two methods of enrolling preschool, grade 1, and grade 6 students: online and in person. The online enrollment period starts from July 1 to 9. Specifically, the enrollment period for grade 1 is from July 1 to 3; enrollment for 5-year-old children in preschool is from July 4 to 6; enrollment for grade 6 is from July 7 to 9. Direct enrollment is from July 12 to 18. It is expected that Hanoi will enroll about 95,000 preschool children, 155,000 grade 1 students, and 161,000 grade 6 students.

For high-quality junior high schools, many parents are interested in each school's individual admission plan because, from 2025, only selection based on academic records will be used for admission to grade 6, not entrance exams, as stipulated in Circular 30 of the Ministry of Education and Training . At Nguyen Sieu Junior High and High School, this school year, 210 students will be admitted to grade 6. The school will use a selection method based on academic records and an assessment of students' entrance abilities…

From now until April 10th, Doan Thi Diem Secondary School is accepting applications for admission to grade 6. Applicants will participate in an aptitude test in April. If they receive an "Admission Notice," they must enroll within 5 days.

The Archimedes Education System announces that for the 2025-2026 school year, its two campuses in Dong Anh and Cau Giay will have a total of 700 places available for 6th grade. The admission process involves taking an assessment in Mathematics, Basic English, Advanced English, Vietnamese, and Advanced Mathematics to evaluate students' knowledge at the primary school level.

Enrollment quotas will be allocated when all conditions are met.

The entrance exam for 10th grade in Hanoi for the 2025-2026 school year will take place from June 7-8. This is the first 10th grade entrance exam under the 2018 General Education Program. Candidates will take exams in three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language.

For the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi is expected to have approximately 127,000 students taking the junior high school graduation exam. To implement the student placement process after junior high school graduation, the number of students expected to enroll in grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year at educational institutions in the city is as follows: Approximately 79,000 students will be enrolled in public high schools, and approximately 48,000 students will be enrolled in private high schools, vocational education and continuing education centers, and vocational training institutions (vocational education and continuing education centers affiliated with vocational and college-level continuing education programs at the high school level).

To prepare for the 10th grade enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year, immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requested schools to urgently review the actual conditions regarding facilities, teaching equipment, and teaching staff; and at the same time, announce the specific requirements for each type of school to be allocated enrollment quotas.

Following the illegal enrollment cases in 2024, the Department of Education and Training is paying special attention to monitoring the enrollment conditions of private schools. If any school does not meet the prescribed standards, it will definitely not be allocated enrollment quotas, and if it intentionally violates the regulations, the school principal will face severe disciplinary action.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training requires private schools to comply with regulations on transparency, which mandates the disclosure of three key elements: quality assurance conditions; educational activity plans and results; and financial revenue and expenditure. For the admission method based on selection, financially autonomous public high schools and private high schools need to develop admission plans for the 2025-2026 school year based on: the admission scores of candidates participating in the entrance examination for grade 10 in non-specialized public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year; the academic and behavioral performance of students in junior high school (if a student repeats a grade, the results from the repeated year will be used); and other regulations of the admission rules.

Students can register for admission online through the school's admissions portal starting from April 21st. Successful applicants must confirm their enrollment and submit their admission documents no later than July 22nd.

According to Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the biggest challenge facing the capital's education sector is the failure to develop the school network according to the plan in some areas to keep pace with population growth; the progress of some school construction projects in the plan is still slow. In some schools in districts such as Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan, Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung, Ha Dong, Nam Tu Liem, Bac Tu Liem, Dong Da, etc., the number of students per class is still higher than the school regulations. With the pressure from the increase in the number of students due to migration, Hanoi continues to focus on implementing various solutions to address the problem of overcrowded schools in some areas.
