Building trust and motivation for poor students to study hard

Representatives of the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education awarded scholarships from the Lam Son Science and Technology Fund to students at the "Tet for Promotion of Education" Program of Thanh Xuan At Ty 2025.

The Lam Son Science and Technology Fund, formerly the Thanh Hoa Provincial Education Promotion Fund, is directly managed by the Provincial Education Promotion Association. The fund's operational objective is to support disadvantaged students to excel in their studies; to reward teachers, students, and pupils with excellent achievements in teaching and learning. According to the representative of the Provincial Education Promotion Association, from the first years of operation under the name of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Education Promotion Fund, through many forms such as issuing lotteries, mobilizing businessmen, enterprises, philanthropists inside and outside the province, and abroad to support, the Provincial Education Promotion Association has built up more than 1 billion VND in funds. By the end of 2011, this number had increased to 2.2 billion VND. In particular, in 2012, with the attention of provincial leaders, leaders of some central departments and branches who are natives of Thanh Hoa, the Provincial Education Promotion Association mobilized businesses inside and outside the province to support more than 20 billion VND in funds. From the results achieved, on January 17, 2013, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 284/QD-UBND to establish the Lam Son Science and Technology Fund. The establishment of the Lam Son Science and Technology Fund marked a new development step as well as the emulation movement to build a scholarship fund in all localities, regions and areas in the province.

The success of the Lam Son Science and Technology Fund is that since its inception, the fund has gathered the strength of many organizations, individuals, and businesses inside and outside the province to participate in science and technology work such as: Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group, ASEAN Trade Joint Stock Company, Central Investment, Construction and Trade Group, Tien Nong Agricultural Industry Joint Stock Company... From there, it has built a "humanitarian bridge" to students with difficult circumstances throughout the province, supporting them on the path to conquering human knowledge. Currently, the Lam Son Science and Technology Fund has reached 26 billion VND. Under the direct management of the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education, every year, the Lam Son Science and Technology Fund grants scholarships to over 2,000 primary, secondary and high school students and rewards students who win prizes in national excellent student competitions and international Olympics with large sums of money; rewards excellent managers and teachers who do excellent education promotion with a total amount of more than 2 billion VND. According to statistics from the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education, up to now, over 30,000 high school students have received awards and scholarships, along with thousands of excellent managers, teachers, and many excellent national and international students receiving awards from the Lam Son Science and Technology Fund.

Each student receiving a scholarship from the Lam Son Science and Technology Fund has a different fate and situation. For example, in the case of Nguyen Nhu Thanh Dat in Hac Thanh ward, his father died in a traffic accident and his mother left when he was young. He currently lives with his elderly grandparents, who are often sick and have no income. Or in the case of Pham Van Sang in Thach Lap commune, he is an orphan, his mother is often sick, he lives with his grandparents who are poor and his family is in extremely difficult circumstances... Despite their difficult family circumstances, they are all shining examples of overcoming difficulties with the determination to acquire knowledge through will and determination to establish themselves, build a career and contribute to their homeland and country. For them, going to school is happiness because studying is always associated with a bright future not only for themselves but also for their relatives, family and homeland. The meaningful scholarships from Lam Son Science and Technology Fund are always a great source of trust and motivation to help students take firmer steps on the path of accessing knowledge to realize their dreams.

From the above objectives, meanings and practical and effective activities, Lam Son Science and Technology Fund has been receiving the consensus, support and trust of all classes of people, the business community inside and outside the province with positive contributions to the fund. Thereby, continuing to encourage and motivate students, especially children of poor households, to make more efforts in studying and practicing for the future to establish themselves and their careers, for the goal of building the homeland and the country to become increasingly prosperous.
