More localities announce third exam subject for grade 10: Some provinces choose History

TPO - By this time, the third subject in the first 10th grade entrance exam under the 2018 General Education Program has been announced by many localities.

The Department of Education and Training of Ha Giang province has officially announced the third subject for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training has selected the third subject for the 10th grade entrance exam in the 2025-2026 school year. The three subjects are: Mathematics, Literature, and History - Geography.

Candidates applying to specialized high schools take exams in four subjects: Mathematics, Literature, History and Geography (non-specialized), and a specialized subject. The exam content is designed to select students with aptitude in that specialized subject.

Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province announced that English would be the third subject in this exam, in addition to the two compulsory subjects, Mathematics and Literature.

The reason most provinces and cities choose English is to motivate and encourage students to enhance their foreign language learning in the context of international integration and to make English the second language in schools.

The early announcement also helps schools proactively plan their teaching and review sessions starting from the second semester, creating a relaxed and favorable environment for both students and parents.

The Departments of Education and Training of Bac Kan, Lam Dong, and Lang Son provinces have also announced that the third subject for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year in their respective areas will be English.

For Hanoi, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has not yet announced the third subject for the entrance exam to 10th grade in public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year.
