This information was mentioned by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man when he delivered the closing remarks at the 36th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the afternoon of August 23.
The Speaker of the National Assembly stated that, at the session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly considered, commented on, and decided on 14 issues; and also held a question-and-answer session.
Regarding legislative work, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly gave its initial opinions on two draft laws: the Law on Electricity (amended); and the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Standards and Technical Regulations. In addition, it gave opinions on the explanation, acceptance, and revision of the draft Law on People's Air Defense.
In addition, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly added the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Health Insurance Law to the 2024 Law and Ordinance Drafting Program, to be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval at the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly.
"Thus, at the 8th session, the National Assembly will pass 13 draft laws. Among them, two draft laws will be passed through a single session: the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army and the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance. In addition, the National Assembly will provide feedback on 13 other draft laws. Not to mention draft resolutions, National Target Programs, important issues, and several other draft laws that the Government plans to propose for inclusion," the National Assembly Chairman said.
Recognizing the heavy workload, the Chairman of the National Assembly requested the Government and relevant agencies to actively and urgently prepare the dossiers of the draft laws in accordance with regulations, and send them to National Assembly deputies 20 days before the 8th Session.

Regarding oversight work, the Speaker of the National Assembly stated that the Standing Committee of the National Assembly dedicated 1.5 days to organizing questioning sessions to comprehensively assess the implementation of the Standing Committee's resolutions on specialized oversight and questioning since the beginning of the 15th National Assembly term, covering nine areas.
Based on the content of the interpellation session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will issue a resolution to serve as a basis for relevant agencies to implement.
At the session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly considered the report of the Supervisory Delegation and adopted the Resolution on the thematic supervision of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on "The implementation of policies and laws on reforming the organizational and management system, improving the quality and efficiency of operation of public non-business units in the period 2018-2023".
The delegates also commented on the draft Monitoring Plan and the report outline of the National Assembly Standing Committee's Monitoring Delegation on "The implementation of policies and laws on the development and utilization of human resources to meet the requirements of socio-economic development, especially high-quality human resources".
The Speaker of the National Assembly stated that the Standing Committee of the National Assembly had approved the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; and decided on the supplementary budget estimate for 2024 of the Ministry of Health.
At the same time, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed a resolution stipulating several contents related to the National Assembly Standing Committee's resolutions on urban classification, administrative unit standards and administrative unit classification, and the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units for the period 2023-2030, in order to implement the rearrangement of urban administrative units for the period 2023-2025.
"This is an extremely important task. The Standing Committee of the National Assembly has given the directive that we can work overtime, including on Saturdays, to ensure timely approval from administrative units. This is to prepare for the Party Congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party," said National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
Also at the session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly gave its opinion on personnel matters to prepare for work within the National Assembly's authority, based on the results of personnel work that had been reviewed by competent agencies.
