Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son receives Vice Chairman of Phongsupthavy Group (Laos).

VTV.vn - On the morning of December 12, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son received Mr. Kounlaphanh Vongnathy, Vice Chairman of Phongsupthavy Group (Laos).

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed Vice Chairman Kounlaphanh Vongnathy's visit to Vietnam, which demonstrates the spirit of cooperation and special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, as well as between businesses of the two sides, especially in the energy sector, which receives special attention from the high-level leaders of the two Parties and States.

The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated Phongsupthavy Group as one of Laos' pioneering investors in exporting electricity to Vietnam, as well as the Group's commitment to further increase electricity exports to Vietnam, making a practical contribution to the implementation of agreements and commitments on energy cooperation between the high-level leaders of the two Parties and two States.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Corporation to continue to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade , Vietnam Electricity Corporation, and relevant localities in the implementation of power projects, fully complying with Vietnamese laws and regulations, ensuring the safety of the power system, and protecting the environment.

The Deputy Prime Minister also suggested that the Group research and expand cooperation with Vietnam into potential areas such as carbon credits and energy infrastructure; participate in ASEAN Power Grid projects, and regional cooperation initiatives, including Mekong-Lancang cooperation.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that, with the clear direction on connecting the two economies from the high-level leaders of both countries, with a solid foundation of cooperation, along with the spirit of mutual trust, understanding, and determination of both sides, the cooperation between the Group and Vietnam will be successful, contributing to the continued strong development of Vietnam-Laos energy cooperation, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries.

Thanking the Deputy Prime Minister for taking the time to meet, Vice Chairman Kounlaphanh Vongnathy affirmed that Phongsupthavy Group is committed to implementing energy cooperation projects in accordance with the laws of both countries; and is determined to realize the plan to export approximately 6,000 MW of electricity to Vietnam in the coming years.

Phongsupthavy Group, established on January 1, 2001, is a diversified business enterprise that initially operated in the construction of bridges, roads, irrigation systems, and infrastructure. In 2011, the Group expanded its business into other sectors such as mining, agriculture, and clean energy (hydropower, solar power, wind power).
