Latest information on the National Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of National Reunification

The most anticipated activity during the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification is the National Celebration Program held from 6am on April 30 on Le Duan Street, District 1 and some central streets of Ho Chi Minh City, with many special features.

This information was released at a press conference on activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, organized by the Central Steering Committee for the commemoration of major national holidays and important historical events in the three years 2023-2025, held on the morning of April 18 in Hanoi .

Ms. Dinh Thi Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, affirmed that this is the central and largest activity among all the activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country.

The program was broadcast live on VTV1 - Vietnam Television, Ho Chi Minh City Television, and local radio and television stations.

The parade program, organized by the Ministry of National Defence , includes: 4 parade blocks of ceremonial guard; 36 parade blocks; and 12 marching blocks. Military blocks from Laos and Cambodia are also expected to be part of the commemoration.

The program consists of two parts: the first is a rally, and the second is a parade and march.

The rally began at 6:30 AM on April 30th.

Before the official rally begins, there will be a 30-minute artistic program, including a military gun dance, a police drum performance, and several artistic performances organized by Ho Chi Minh City.

Following the flag-raising ceremony and introduction of delegates, there were commemorative speeches by Party and State leaders, speeches by representatives of veterans, and speeches by representatives of the younger generation of Vietnam.

The commemorative speech was delivered by General Secretary To Lam.

The song "The Country Filled with Joy" transitioned from the rally to the parade, which is expected to include 53 marching contingents and 13 standing contingents.

There are relatives of Mr. Morrison - the "living torch" who opposed the Vietnam War.

According to Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the total number of guests from the central government and international organizations attending the anniversary ceremony was approximately over 6,000, in addition to about 10,000 standing people, including a large number of residents standing along the streets.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang further informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received confirmation of participation from more than 20 delegations from various countries at different levels, from ministerial level and above.

These included 3 high-level delegations, 5 delegations at the ministerial level or higher, 15 political parties from Asia, the Americas, and Africa, and senior leaders of political parties such as the secretary-general or vice-chairman of the ruling party.

In addition, more than 100 delegates representing peace organizations and movements, anti-war movements, and international friends who had previously supported Vietnam have also confirmed their attendance.

Ho Chi Minh City also invited and confirmed the participation of more than 20 localities that have sister city relationships with the city, as well as many prominent individuals abroad who have contributed to the anti-war movement.

As invited to the family of Mr. Morrison - an American citizen who self-immolated in front of the White House to protest the war of aggression in Vietnam on the 60th anniversary of the country's founding, in November 1965, a figure familiar to many generations of Vietnamese people thanks to the moving poem by To Huu, " Emily, My Child!"

According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, as of now, it is expected that approximately 180 international journalists from various countries, along with 7 overseas Vietnamese journalists from the US and Europe, will directly participate in reporting on the commemoration ceremony on April 30th.

Ms. Thuy stated that the activities organized by the City include the "City of Colors" Festival, held from April 19th to April 30th, with a highlight being a 3D Mapping art performance on the facade of the City People's Committee headquarters, combining light, sound, and symphony-choral music.

In particular, the evening of April 19th featured a display of 2,000 drones, combined with artistic fireworks illuminating the city's sky, providing a spectacular experience for the audience.

The film exhibition "Echoes of the Great Victory of Spring 1975," featuring 300 valuable archival photos, and community film screenings will take place on the evenings of April 27th and 28th at the Nguyen Hue - Ngo Duc Ke stage.

The special art program " National Reunification Day" was held and broadcast live nationwide at the Reunification Hall, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, on the evening of April 30th.

The city also collaborated with central ministries and agencies to organize other attractive celebratory art programs such as:

- The outdoor art program "The Nation's Complete Joy" will be held on April 20th in the grounds of the Reunification Hall.

- A special concert program themed " Symphony of Peace" will be held on the evening of April 21st at the City Theatre.

- The national-level televised program "The Triumphal Song Resounds Forever" will be broadcast on April 27th from Ho Chi Minh City.

- The special art program " Spring of Unification," organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City, will be held on April 29th at the Saigon Riverfront Park, Thu Thiem Ward, Thu Duc City.

- A brass band performance combined with equestrian skills demonstrations, organized by the Ministry of Public Security, is scheduled to take place on April 30th in the area of ​​Le Loi Street and Nguyen Hue pedestrian street.

The city also coordinated with the City Tourism Department to organize three typical tours for journalists covering the city: "Legends of the Special Forces Heroes of Rừng Sác"; "Củ Chi - the land of steel and bronze: underground tunnels"; and "From the Tet Offensive to the Great Victory of Xuân Đại Thắng".
