A talented and beautiful couple from the Northern art scene.

Singer Tan Minh, whose full name is Huynh Tan Minh, was born in 1972 in Nam Dinh . He lost his father when he was only 15 years old, and at 16, after winning a prize at a student singing competition, he moved to Hanoi. He then enrolled in the Hanoi Conservatory of Music, now the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

After graduating with a perfect score from the Vocal Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, he joined the Thang Long Opera and Dance Theatre. In 1998, Tan Minh won the Asian '98 Golden Voice award.

Tan Minh rose to fame in the late 1990s with the song "Phuong Hong" on Vietnamese television, but it wasn't until his debut album, "Buc Thu Tinh Dau Tien" (First Love Letter) , under the technical guidance of musician Do Bao, that he truly achieved success and made a strong mark on his career.

In 2004, he married Cheo (traditional Vietnamese opera) artist Thu Huyen. During this time, he was the Deputy Head of the Light Music Troupe of the Thang Long Opera and Dance Theatre.

On November 16, 2014, he held his first solo live show to celebrate 20 years of singing, titled " Tan Minh in the Spotlight, " at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace.

He was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 2015. Also in that year, Tan Minh became the Director of the Thang Long Music and Dance Theatre, replacing musician Trong Dai.

During his time managing the theater, he won gold medals for several performances: 3 gold medal performances, 3 silver medal performances, and awards for best director and best composer at the 2nd National Professional Music and Dance Festival in 2018.

He was a grassroots-level Emulation Soldier for many years, along with numerous Certificates of Merit, and was one of 649 citizens of Hanoi awarded the title "Good Person, Good Deed" by the Hanoi People's Committee.

Tan Minh is one of the famous singers known for his poignant, romantic, and emotional love songs. Some of the songs associated with his name include: "The First Love Letter," "Pink Phoenix," "Mother," "First Love," "You and I," "I Sing You to Sleep," and "Longing to Return to Hanoi."

Many people believe that singer Tan Minh must have experienced many romantic relationships to be able to perform such heartfelt songs...

Regarding this, Tan Minh once shared with a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper that he would never do that; instead, he would directly engage with the work, researching to understand what the author was writing and what they wanted to convey. He tried to adhere to the author's intentions, ideas, and techniques.

"In fact, performing a complete work requires many things to achieve the desired emotional impact. These include understanding the work, its context, the circumstances at the time it was created, and musical knowledge..."

Having achieved that, I try to be flexible with my emotions and understanding of real life. Because the most important thing is how I convey my emotions to the audience," he confided.

Tan Minh said that with each song, he always sings as honestly and simply as he thinks, trying to convey the message of the song in the most natural way possible.

While Tan Minh is a scholarly and talented man, his wife, Thu Huyen, is also renowned for her talent and beauty. Thu Huyen was born in 1975 in Hanoi into a family with no one involved in the arts, but she loved traditional Vietnamese opera (cheo) from a young age.

She has a petite figure. At the age of 16 (1991), Thu Huyen won the special prize at the Hanoi Young Stage Talent Competition for her role as Thi Mau.

At the age of 17 (1992), she graduated from the Hanoi Cheo Theatre's Intermediate Cheo School and began her career as a Cheo performer.

Throughout her career in traditional Vietnamese opera (chèo), Thu Huyền is famous for her portrayal of Thị Mầu in the classic play Quan Âm Thị Kính . With eyes described as sharp as a betel nut knife, a protruding tooth, and a mole at the corner of her lip, Thu Huyền transformed Thị Mầu into the most seductive character in Vietnamese folklore.

In 1998, with her role as Thi Mau, Thu Huyen once again won first prize in the National Young Stage Talent Competition.

She also had several other successful roles such as: Thi Phuong in Truong Vien , Co Son in Co Son, Suy Van in Suy Van Gia Dai , and Hoan Thu in Kieu . She won many gold and silver medals in various theater festivals.

In 2002, she ran for election to the 11th National Assembly of Vietnam (2002-2007). Besides traditional Vietnamese opera (cheo), her performances of Quan Ho folk songs from Bac Ninh province also left a strong impression on the public, such as "Xe chi luon kim" ( Threading the Needle), "Vao chua" (Entering the Temple) , "Di cay" (Going to Plant Rice), " Lung lieng" (Smiling) , and "Hoa thom buom luon" (Fragrant Flowers and Fluttering Butterflies ).

Their marriage of nearly two decades has never had a single argument.

Besides their successful careers, Thu Huyen and Tan Minh are also admired by the public for their strong and fulfilling marriage of nearly two decades.

They knew each other for 10 years and were friends before getting married (in 2004). Currently, the couple has an admirable family with two sons: Minh Nam (born in 2005) and Minh Khoi (born in 2010).

Recently, to celebrate her wedding anniversary, Thu Huyen posted a happy family photo of four on her personal page with the caption: "There are moments that will completely change your life. There are things that seem like they happened just yesterday, but it's already been 19 years. 19 years is quite a long journey, isn't it? I only feel 'happy' about it."

Earlier, in a conversation with a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper, the female artist shared that in their 30 years together—from acquaintance to friendship to love and marriage they have never once had a major conflict or argument.

Speaking about the secret to maintaining a warm and harmonious family life when both are artists and bosses, Thu Huyen said that she and her husband understand that family is the most important thing, so they always try to arrange things in a harmonious way.

Back home, the couple spend time talking, supporting each other with household chores, caring for their two sons together, and sharing the joys and sorrows of life. This is what motivates them both to fulfill the responsibilities they are undertaking.

Speaking about her husband, Meritorious Artist Tan Minh, Thu Huyen revealed that her husband is a calm person who doesn't often use flowery language with his partner, but is very sincere.

Tan Minh also shared with a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper that he believes men can keep a cool head, but their hearts must be warm. That's the key to keeping a warm family.

Because a warm heart makes a warm family, but if it cools down, the family will be very cold. Whether a family is happy or not depends a lot on that.

"In the past, I focused on everyday, lasting things rather than unrealistic romantic fantasies. But now that I'm older, I perceive romance in a different way. I feel that my gestures, even without words, are also a way of expressing romance."

"I rarely flatter my wife with words; I show it through practical actions and deeds," Tấn Minh said.

Thu Huyen also shared that her husband has never raised his voice or yelled at her. When she gets angry and raises her voice, her husband will remain silent. And when she sees that her husband doesn't say anything, she has to reflect on herself and realize that raising her voice was wrong.

For Thu Huyen, happiness is doing the job she loves and is passionate about, living and contributing to her profession, being respected by others, and having a harmonious family with well-behaved children.
