Impressive achievements from a well-rounded student
Nguyen Viet Hung scored 29.75 points in block A01 (Math (10), Physics (10), English (9.75)) and 29 points in block D00 (Math (10), Literature (9.25), English (9.75)), becoming the national valedictorian of both exam blocks. He also possesses an impressive international certificate of IELTS 8.0, an outstanding student not only in studying but also in exam performance.
Valedictorian Nguyen Viet Hung, the double valedictorian of block A01 and D00 in 2025, comes from class 12 English of Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, Hanoi , with teacher Nguyen Thi Giang as homeroom teacher.
Hung is a student majoring in English and at the same time achieved the highest score in both the natural sciences and social sciences in the high school graduation exam with a nearly perfect total score, which is rare. In particular, Nguyen Viet Hung's achievement is even more impressive when his preparation mainly consisted of studying at school and self-studying according to his own method. With Literature - which is not his forte - Hung has his own approach. "I don't try to write flowery, but focus on simple, concise, easy-to-understand evidence. I apply the presentation method of IELTS. The Literature exam question on the topic "Every homeland's sky is the fatherland's sky", I used the example of the South using electricity from the North - something I read in a Geography book - as a testament to the connection and sharing between regions.
What is special about Hung's way of reviewing for exams is that he does not study day and night, and does not force himself to study too much. He usually starts reviewing in the afternoon and evening - the time frame that he finds most effective - and he also takes time to rest, read newspapers and relax his mind. Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang, Hung's homeroom teacher, also said: "Hung is a talented student, good at all subjects, modest, hard-working and very eager to learn". Hung does not only consider studying as "studying for exams", but also studying to know "study to understand - study to master knowledge", calmly and flexibly applying it.
Educational innovation and socialization of textbook compilation
Chu Van An High School, Hanoi, where Hung studies, is one of the top high schools in the country. The school chose to use 7 textbooks from the Canh Dieu textbook series (a series compiled according to the socialization policy), including textbooks for the subjects: Math, Literature and Physics. The Canh Dieu series - with the philosophy of "Bringing life into lessons, bringing lessons into life" - has contributed to forming a foundation of logical thinking, the ability to analyze and apply knowledge into real life. Schools with many 10 points in the recent graduation exam such as Chu Van An High School; Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Hanoi); Dinh Tien Hoang High School (Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) ... are all proactive in choosing suitable textbooks, diversifying learning materials, thanks to which, students have the opportunity to access knowledge with modern methods, access easy-to-understand academic language, rich in practical connections and inspiring learning.
The score reflects the quality
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), in 2025, 513 candidates achieved a score of 10 in Math - a sharp increase compared to the previous year (in 2024, there were no scores of 10 in Math). The score distribution accurately reflects the students' abilities. Subjects such as Physics, Literature, and English also recorded a reasonable average - high score, not too easy but not too challenging.

Score distribution and 10 provinces with the most 10 points in Math in the 2025 High School Graduation Exam
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong affirmed that this year's score distribution is stable, without the "shock" that many people feared. This shows that high school students have quickly changed their state and adapted well to the new exam format. Teachers have also changed their teaching methods, focusing on forming students' qualities and abilities instead of just teaching knowledge according to a template.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), also said that for the English subject, this year is the first year of taking the exam according to the 2018 General Education Program. The output requirements for students have changed compared to before, which is to achieve level B1 (ie level 3/6). "Looking at the score distribution, we can see that the score distribution is no longer "saddle-shaped". This is a very encouraging sign. In addition, in the score distribution of the English subject, although the number of candidates has decreased, it shows that the quality of candidates participating in the exam has increased," said Prof. Ha.
The exam results confirm the correctness of the innovation of the General Education Program and the diversification of learning materials and textbooks.
Nguyen Viet Hung's achievements as well as the overall results of the 2025 National High School Exam are the result of a serious training process, support from teachers, a positive learning environment and especially a knowledge foundation built from the new education program with appropriate learning materials and textbooks.
Hung's story is a convincing proof that the 2018 General Education Program, along with the policy of each subject having one or several textbooks, has truly come into life, and every student can develop comprehensively - with enough qualities and abilities to pass all exams, ready for the greater journey ahead.
