The Prime Minister assigned the authority of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment.

(Chinhphu.vn) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 1559/QD-TTg dated July 17, 2025, transferring Mr. Tran Duc Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate to work at the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, assigning the authority of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment.

The Prime Minister has appointed Mr. Tran Duc Thang as Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment .

The decision takes effect from July 17, 2025.

Mr. Tran Duc Thang was born in 1973 in Vinh Phuc province (now Phu Tho province).

Mr. Tran Duc Thang previously served as Deputy Director and then Director of the Department of Public Assets Management, Ministry of Finance. From 2018 to 2022, Mr. Thang worked at the Central Inspection Committee, holding positions as a member and then as Deputy Chairman of the Committee. In October 2022, he was transferred and appointed by the Politburo to the position of Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term. Subsequently, he was transferred, assigned, and appointed to the position of Permanent Deputy Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate from July 1, 2025.

* Previously, on July 17, 2025, at the Party Central Headquarters, after considering the proposal of the Central Inspection Committee regarding disciplinary action against violating Party members, the Politburo found that Mr. Do Duc Duy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Party Committee of the Government, Secretary of the Party Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Environment - while serving as Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the People's Committee of Yen Bai province, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Bai province, violated Party regulations and State laws in performing his assigned duties; violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations; violated regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility of setting an example, causing serious consequences, negative public opinion, and reducing the prestige of the Party organization and the agency/unit where he worked.

Based on the content, nature, extent, consequences, and causes of the violation; and in accordance with the Party's regulations on disciplining violating Party members, the Politburo decided to issue a Warning to Mr. Do Duc Duy.

The President of Vietnam issued Decision No. 1355/QD-CTN on July 17, 2025, temporarily suspending Mr. Do Duc Duy from his position as Minister of Agriculture and Environment for the 2021-2026 term, effective from July 17, 2025, until the 15th National Assembly dismisses him from the position of Minister of Agriculture and Environment for the 2021-2026 term in accordance with regulations.
