Lao Cai is a border area with many potential risks of smuggling confectionery products from abroad, especially mooncakes. Therefore, to effectively monitor and prevent smuggling, the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police has coordinated with market management forces to conduct surprise inspections of production and business establishments. The focus of the inspections is on supermarkets, retail stores, and especially stalls selling mooncakes in the area.

The inspection aims to detect and promptly address violations of food safety regulations, such as: products with unclear origin; expired mooncakes and confectionery; and goods that do not meet food hygiene and safety standards.
During surprise inspections at retail outlets, stores, and supermarkets selling mooncakes in the area, authorities did not find any confectionery products of unknown origin. All mooncakes on display had complete purchase and sale documents, and prices and expiration dates were clearly displayed.

In the coming period, the Economic Police Department of the Lao Cai Provincial Police will continue to coordinate with the Provincial Market Management Department to tighten food safety inspections during the Mid-Autumn Festival season, aiming to prevent the circulation of counterfeit and substandard goods on the market, contributing to protecting consumer health.
