The truth behind the 10-story hotel near Ho Guom Lake and the 400 billion VND compensation claim.

Located at 26 Ly Thai To Street (Hoan Kiem Ward, Hanoi), Aurora Oriental is a 10-story boutique hotel that began construction in 2019 and officially opened in May 2025. From here, guests can reach a number of iconic Hanoi landmarks such as Hoan Kiem Lake, The Huc Bridge, Ngoc Son Temple, Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre, and Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in just about 5 minutes on foot.

According to Tri Thức - Znews , in March, the construction at 26 Ly Thai To Street was still in the finishing stages, with many sections still cluttered with materials. Just about two months later, the hotel had opened its doors to guests, becoming a high-end accommodation in the heart of the Old Quarter. However, this is not the project mentioned in the 400 billion VND compensation information. In reality, the household involved owns a plot of land over 400 m2 with two land ownership certificates on Dinh Tien Hoang Street, facing Hoan Kiem Lake. Even so, according to surveys on real estate websites, the price of land on Ly Thai To Street is currently around 1 billion VND /m2, making the estimated value of this 10-story hotel also reach hundreds of billions of VND. According to the website, the hotel currently has approximately 52 rooms, divided into several different room categories. Specifically, the Deluxe Room City View (22 m2) starts from 5.1 million VND/night. The Junior Suite with Balcony (28 m2) starts from 7.6 million VND/night, and the Junior Suite with Lake View (same size but with a view of Hoan Kiem Lake) starts from 8.9 million VND/night. Higher-end room categories include the Oriental Suite Balcony (45 m2) starting from 8.9 million VND, and the Family Connecting Room starting from 9.9 million VND/night.

The rooms are fully equipped with amenities such as flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, safety deposit boxes, work desks, and private bathrooms with standard facilities.

The hotel has a check-in time from 2 PM and a check-out time before 12 PM the following day. Room rates include breakfast buffet. Despite its small size, this property is equipped with a full range of amenities including the Yoki restaurant, an indoor swimming pool, 24/7 reception, an elevator, and free Wi-Fi.

In addition, the hotel boasts an Oriental Spa with treatments inspired by Eastern medicine, and Shiki Onsen – a Japanese-style hot spring bath area with a sauna and indoor pool, helping guests rejuvenate after their trip. Furthermore, the hotel offers a bar/lounge, tour booking services, and airport transfers, completing a comprehensive stay experience for guests.

Besides accommodation services, the hotel also offers Vietnamese set menus for group and international guests, priced from 350,000 VND per person. The menu includes familiar dishes such as bun cha (grilled pork with vermicelli), spring rolls, pho bo (beef noodle soup), fresh rolls, lotus seed and longan sweet soup, etc.

On Tripadvisor, the hotel currently has a 5/5 rating with 574 reviews, including 569 five-star reviews, ranking among the top 3 best hotels out of 116 hotels in the Hoan Kiem area. Many guests praised the hotel for being new, clean, having polite and professional staff, a convenient location, wide roads with easy parking, and good soundproofing. Thuy Trang (a guest who stayed here in October) said the hotel has a beautiful view of Hoan Kiem Lake, a diverse breakfast buffet, but the mattress was a bit soft and not very comfortable.

According to a survey by Tri Thức - Znews , the hotel is still accepting reservations until the end of December. However, for bookings from January 2026 onwards, guests are advised to contact the operator later as they are awaiting official information regarding the relocation plan from the investor. Despite its prime location, the hotel at 26 Lý Thái Tổ is facing the possibility of relocation in the near future, ending a short lifespan in the heart of the capital city.
