Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council works with the Department of Agriculture and Environment

On the morning of July 31, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang chaired a working session with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to listen to a report on the results of the first 6 months of the year and key tasks for the last 6 months of 2025. Following the drastic direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee, with the spirit of "Discipline - Responsibility, Proactiveness - Timeliness, Streamlining - Efficiency, Acceleration - Breakthrough", the Agriculture and Environment sector has quickly stabilized the organization after the merger, improved management effectiveness and promoted administrative reform.

In the first 6 months of 2025, despite facing many challenges, the Agriculture and Environment sector of Quang Tri province has achieved many positive results, making important contributions to the overall development of the province. The growth rate of the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector reached 3.79%. The total production value of the whole sector reached nearly 5,520 billion VND, accounting for more than 20% of the province's GRDP.

The fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing has been vigorously implemented. 98.1% of offshore fishing vessels have been equipped with voyage monitoring devices, contributing to the removal of the EC's "yellow card".

In the construction of new rural areas and sustainable poverty reduction, after the merger, the whole province now has 39/69 communes meeting new rural standards. The rate of multidimensional poor households has decreased. The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has also achieved impressive results.

The rate of collection and treatment of domestic solid waste reached 89.5%. Solutions to respond to climate change and prevent natural disasters were proactively and promptly deployed. Besides the outstanding achievements, the Quang Tri Agriculture and Environment sector still has some shortcomings and limitations.

Concluding the working session, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang acknowledged and commended the results achieved by the Department of Agriculture and Environment in the first 6 months of 2025, and affirmed the importance of effective land management. This is a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the locality. At the same time, he emphasized that land use planning needs to be carried out in a synchronous, transparent and long-term manner, ensuring the harmony of interests between the State, businesses and people.

Local authorities need to further promote their proactive role and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles for people and businesses.

Along with that, this work must have close coordination between relevant departments, branches, sectors and units; consensus of the people and especially high determination of the entire political system.
