This is billionaire Elon Musk's second visit to Beijing in less than a year. China is now the world's largest market for electric cars.

CCTV reported on a meeting between Premier Li Qiang and billionaire Musk, in which Li promised that China would do more to support foreign companies doing business in the country.

Premier Li affirmed that Beijing will provide a better business environment for foreign companies, creating conditions for foreign investment in China.

For his part, billionaire Musk praised the Chinese staff working at the Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai.

"Tesla is ready to take the next step to further deepen our partnership with China to achieve further mutually beneficial results," Musk added.

Earlier in the day, the American billionaire met with Ren Hongbin, head of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, to discuss future cooperation directions and other topics.

Musk last visited China in June 2023. Tesla did not provide information about Musk's schedule during his current visit to China.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has arrived in China after cancelling a planned visit to India, which included a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The reason behind the cancellation is unclear.
