This is billionaire Elon Musk's second visit to Beijing in less than a year. China is currently the world's largest market for electric vehicles.

CCTV reported on a meeting between Premier Li Qiang and billionaire Musk, in which Li promised that China would be more proactive in supporting foreign companies doing business in the country.

Prime Minister Li affirmed that Beijing will provide a better business environment for foreign companies, facilitating foreign investment in China.

For his part, billionaire Musk praised the Chinese staff working at the Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai.

"Tesla is prepared to take the next step to further deepen its partnership with China in order to achieve more mutually beneficial results," Musk added.

Earlier in the day, the American billionaire met with Ren Hongbin, head of the China Council for International Trade Promotion, to discuss future cooperation directions and other topics.

The last time billionaire Musk visited China was in June 2023. Tesla has not provided information about Musk's schedule for his current visit to China.

Tesla's CEO has arrived in China after canceling a previously planned visit to India, which included a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The reason behind the cancellation is unclear.
