Promoting tradition, overcoming difficulties and rising up

Stationed in Cam Xuyen commune, Ha Tinh province - a land of sun and wind, harsh climate, heavy rain, intense sunshine, frequent storms and floods - the TGSX work of the 2nd Infantry Battalion has never been easy. In addition, the unit's number of troops often fluctuates due to having to mobilize to participate in many unexpected missions: Storm and flood prevention, forest fire fighting, rescue, etc. However, the difficulties seem to further strengthen the will of "self-reliance", turning challenges into motivation for the officers and soldiers here.

With the attention and direction of the Party Committee, the Command of Regiment 841 and the guidance and support of logistics agencies at all levels, the Battalion issued a specialized Resolution on TGSX work, established a Steering Committee, and an Organizing Committee to assign specific tasks to each group and individual. Thanks to that, the awareness and determination to participate in the Competition of 100% of officers and soldiers were significantly raised.

Production increase work at Infantry Battalion 2 always receives attention and encouragement from commanders at all levels.

Captain Nguyen Manh Dung, Captain of Infantry Company 4, shared: “The task of increasing production is not only to improve meals for soldiers, but also to train courage, discipline, and team spirit. This competition is an opportunity for us to assert ourselves, and at the same time learn valuable experiences from other units in the entire Military Region.”

Building a systematic and synchronous production system

Currently, Infantry Battalion 2 has planned and put into use 20,470m² of TGSX area. The items are arranged scientifically and reasonably, closely combining livestock, crop cultivation, aquaculture and food processing, ensuring diversity and sustainability.

Including: 5,360m² vegetable garden, divided into 7/7 types of gardens according to regulations: Uncovered, covered, nursery, spices, drinking plants, training vegetables, fruit trees. In particular, the 300m² greenhouse model gives high productivity with off-season vegetables, tomatoes, melons - many types of vegetables and fruits available all year round, meeting the needs of the army. 1,100m² climbing frame, specializing in growing squash, pumpkin, gourd... gives an average yield of 430kg/month. 700m² barn, stably maintaining a herd of 105 pigs, more than 1,500 poultry, a herd of 10 cows...

The unit boldly implemented new models such as raising wild ducks, frogs, catfish, square-headed perch... bringing clear economic efficiency. The 11,000m² fish pond, raising a variety of grass carp, bighead carp, bighead carp, common carp, tilapia... with an average output of 228kg/month. In parallel, the unit also expanded new aquaculture, growing straw mushrooms, pickling cucumbers, making fish sauce - diversifying products to serve the soldiers' lives.

The battalion has applied many scientific and technical advances to ensure effective livestock farming models.

More importantly, the Battalion has applied many scientific and technical advances: drip irrigation system, high-quality plant and animal varieties, biological products for environmental treatment, ensuring a friendly, effective and safe production model.

In just the first 8 months of 2025, the Battalion has achieved impressive figures: 26,489 kg of vegetables and fruits (134% of the target), 8,132 kg of pork (142%), 6,632 kg of fresh fish (172%), 1,627 kg of eggs (167%)... Thanks to that, the quality of soldiers' meals has been significantly improved, with prices 10-20% cheaper than the market. The health and physical strength of officers and soldiers are increasingly improved, directly contributing to improving the quality of training and combat readiness.

Determined to achieve high results

The atmosphere of determination spread throughout the unit. In the gardens and barns, everywhere one could see the figures of soldiers working enthusiastically, both honing their skills and taking care of the products that would be brought to the competition.

Captain Nguyen Thai Bao, Political Commissar of Infantry Battalion 2, affirmed: “We consider this a great opportunity for the unit to exchange, learn, and affirm our mettle and intelligence. With the attention of superiors, the solidarity and determination of the entire Battalion, we believe we will achieve the highest results at the competition, worthy of the tradition of Regiment 841 and the heroic Ha Tinh Provincial Armed Forces.”
