Tien Yen opens classes for teaching Then singing and Tinh lute playing in 2024.

The People's Committee of Phong Du commune (Tien Yen district) recently held the opening ceremony for the 2024 Tay ethnic folk singing and zither playing training course. This activity is part of the project "Preserving and promoting the value of the Tay ethnic cultural village in Dong Dinh hamlet, Phong Du commune in 2024".

The class was held from November 26th to December 22nd, 2024, with the participation of 24 students from the Tay ethnic group residing in Phong Du commune. All students are passionate about Then singing and playing the Tinh lute, and wish to preserve their ethnic cultural identity. During the class, students will receive basic knowledge from artisans about the origins of Then singing and Tinh lute playing; the value of the intangible cultural heritage of Then singing and Tinh lute playing in the daily life of the Tay people; techniques for playing and accompanying the Tinh lute with Then melodies; learning to sing ancient Then songs and developed Then songs with new lyrics; and the art of performing Then singing…

Through this training course, the aim is to preserve intangible cultural heritage values ​​in general, and the Then singing and Dan Tinh playing of the Tay people in Phong Du commune in particular, and above all, to improve the quality and effectiveness of cultural and artistic activities at the grassroots level. This is also a practical activity that contributes to concretizing Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU dated October 30, 2023, of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee on building and promoting the cultural values ​​and human strength of Quang Ninh to become an endogenous resource and driving force for rapid and sustainable development; and the province's theme for the year: "Developing a culture and people rich in Quang Ninh's identity".
