Continue to pay attention to and promote new cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and the Russian Federation

On the morning of October 23 (local time), within the framework of his working visit to attend the 2024 BRICS Expanded Leaders' Meeting in the Russian Federation, following a solemn welcoming ceremony at Kazan International Airport, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh He expressed his delight at visiting Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, for the first time and thanked the Government of the Russian Federation and the Organizing Committee for the warm and thoughtful welcome extended to the high-level delegation of the Vietnamese Government, especially Deputy Prime Minister A. Novak and the two Russian Ministers who came to the airport to welcome the delegation and meet with the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in recent times, political and diplomatic relations between the two countries have developed increasingly well, especially after the State visit to Vietnam by President Vladimir Putin in June 2024, along with many exchanges and contacts between high-level leaders of the two countries, further strengthening the reliable political foundation for the two countries to develop cooperation in all fields.

Expressing the appreciation and support of the Vietnamese Party, State, and Government leaders for Russia's role as BRICS Chair, the Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam always considers Russia one of its top priority partners in its foreign policy; he was pleased to note the positive results achieved in multifaceted cooperation between the two countries since President Putin's visit; and he expressed his desire to work with the Russian Government to find solutions to strengthen cooperation in the future, especially in areas where both sides have strengths and potential, on a mutually beneficial basis.

Welcoming and conveying greetings from Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-level Vietnamese Government delegation, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak affirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Government leaders highly value the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam, considering Vietnam a leading important partner in the Asia-Pacific region; he also thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for attending the BRICS Expanded Leaders' Meeting in Kazan; and expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister's attention and decisive guidance on the relationship. Both sides acknowledged the positive results achieved in bilateral cooperation in recent times, including in the energy and oil and gas sector, which have made a significant contribution to socio-economic development in each country.

In the context of many countries shifting towards green energy and mitigating the harmful effects of global climate change, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the Russian Government to continue paying attention to and promoting new cooperation opportunities with Vietnam, while also continuing to effectively implement the cooperation agreements already signed between the two countries in this important field. For his part, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always welcomes and creates all favorable conditions for Russian businesses, including oil and gas companies, interested in expanding their operations in Vietnam.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully invited Deputy Prime Minister Novak, two ministers of the Russian Federation, and extended an invitation to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to visit Vietnam in the near future.
