Receiving and working with the Dien Bien Provincial delegation, Vestas Development A/S was represented by its Chief Financial Officer, Patrik Vilhelm Setterberg, and Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark.
During the visit and working session, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Thanh Do provided a brief overview of the socio -economic development of Dien Bien province and the implementation of wind power projects by Vestas Development A/S - Denmark in Dien Bien province. He noted that the province has significant potential for developing various types of renewable energy, including wind power, solar power, biomass power, hydropower, and pumped storage hydropower.
Currently, Dien Bien province has authorized Vestas Development A/S - Denmark to conduct surveys and research to propose the inclusion of two wind power projects in the planning: the Muong Ang wind power plant project with a capacity of 110MW (located in Ang Cang, Ang Nua, and Nam Lich communes, Muong Ang district; Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien Phu city; and Pu Nhi commune, Dien Bien Dong district) and the Dien Bien Dong wind power plant project with a capacity of 130MW (located in Muong Lan and Xuan Lao communes, Muong Ang district; and Xa Dung, Phi Nhu, and Muong Luan communes, Dien Bien Dong district)...
In addition, Vestas Development A/S conducted preliminary research and surveys for the Na Tong Wind Power Plant and Tia Dinh Wind Power Plant projects in Dien Bien Dong district, and received approval from the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee to conduct further research and surveys to prepare supplementary planning documents, as stated in Official Letter No. 4927/UBND-KT dated November 1, 2024.
Also at the meeting, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province provided further information on the implementation of the energy development plan (Electricity Plan VIII) in Dien Bien province, including the potential for wind power development.
Dien Bien Province requests Vestas Development A/S to continue proposing to the Danish Embassy in Vietnam to recommend to the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to add the wind power capacity to the list and scale of wind power projects in the Power Development Plan VIII for Dien Bien Province, in order to implement the wind power projects that the company has researched, surveyed, and implemented in the province.
Regarding the two projects, the Muong Ang Wind Power Plant and the Dien Bien Dong Wind Power Plant, Dien Bien province hopes that Vestas Development A/S will complete the survey work, propose the preparation of supplementary planning documents for these projects, and coordinate with Dien Bien province to request the Ministry of Industry and Trade to submit to the Prime Minister for approval the addition of the projects and the scale of wind power development for Dien Bien province to the Power Plan VIII for implementation in the 2026-2030 period.
Dien Bien Province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for investors in accordance with regulations, and at the same time, working closely with the company to promptly compile and submit proposals to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for early approval of the list and capacity of wind power projects in the National Power Development Plan VIII; supporting investors with investment incentive policies; directing all levels, sectors, and localities to coordinate and facilitate the acceleration of investment approval, project appraisal, land clearance, and the implementation of investment and construction procedures according to regulations, so that the project can be put into operation and exploited as soon as possible, maximizing economic efficiency...
