Located about 30km from the center of Bac Yen district, Xim Vang is a pristine area with over 570 households of the Mong ethnic minority. Among the places to "hunt" for golden rice fields in Northwest Vietnam, Xim Vang is worth visiting because it is one of the localities with the largest and most beautiful terraced rice fields in the highlands of Bac Yen.
Thanh Nam (22 years old, Hanoi ), who came to Xim Vang with his friend at the end of August, said that the terraced rice fields are layered one after another on the mountain slopes, and the air is always fresh and cool.
With its majestic landscape of winding roads and towering mountains, Xim Vang impresses any visitor the moment they set foot here.
Nestled amidst that majestic landscape, streams flowing from the vast forest meander, carrying cool, refreshing water in all directions, making Xim Vang incredibly picturesque.
Unlike the bustling Mu Cang Chai ( Yen Bai ) or Hoang Su Phi (Ha Giang), visitors to Xim Vang don't have to wait to take photos, as the area remains pristine and peaceful.
Mr. Thanh Nam shared that Xim Vang is a worthwhile destination for experiencing the "green season" or "golden season" in Northwest Vietnam. It boasts pristine beauty, vibrant nature, and visitors can observe the peaceful daily life and work of the highland people.
The harvest season in Xim Vang usually begins from the end of September to the end of October, depending on when the locals plant the rice. Currently, the terraced rice fields are gradually turning yellow, but the weather is still cool and drizzly, so the locals haven't harvested yet. Many landslides caused by floods have also been cleared, and the roads are now clear.
While relaxing in Xim Vang, visitors are not only amazed by the magnificent natural scenery but also surprised to learn that more than 40 years ago, this stunning landscape was just a remote, barren, and sparsely populated area. The efforts of the local people have transformed this desolate land into a place where rice paddies are lush green or golden, and the air is filled with the fragrant aroma of freshly cooked rice.
Xim Vang is 18km from the center of Ta Xua, and the road is quite easy to navigate. Tourists can rent accommodation in Ta Xua and plan an itinerary to explore both places. However, the main road down to Mam Xoi Hill is quite steep, so tourists need to be careful when traveling.
In addition, tourists visiting Xim Vang during the upcoming holiday should check the weather beforehand to ensure a safe and fulfilling trip during the golden rice harvest season.
