Transform Da Nang into a new science and technology hub for the entire country.

On the morning of March 29th, Da Nang city held a ceremony to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the city's Party Committee and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang city.

The program took place at Tien Son Sports Palace, with the participation of General Secretary To Lam, Party and State leaders, and nearly 4,000 delegates.

At the program, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, reviewed the history of the formation of the Da Nang Party Committee and the city's development journey.

Particularly after the city separated from Quang Nam - Da Nang province to become a new administrative unit directly under the central government, it marked a significant historical turning point, ushering the city into a new period of development, but one that also presented many difficulties and challenges.

To date, the city's economy has grown considerably over the years, with an average annual growth rate of over 9% in gross domestic product. Compared to 1997, the size of the economy has increased more than 45 times, budget revenue has increased more than 25.6 times, and per capita income has increased 21 times.

"The most outstanding feature of the city is its urban planning and renovation efforts, and the synchronized development of infrastructure. From a small city, Da Nang now has an urbanization rate of 87.2%, twice as high as the national average," Mr. Quang said.

Along with economic development, the city focuses on the comprehensive and harmonious development of cultural and social fields, with significant achievements in culture, education and training, healthcare, science and technology, sports, literature and arts…

In particular, Da Nang city has enacted many groundbreaking, humane, and outstanding policies that have been well-received and highly appreciated by the public, becoming the city's "brand," such as the "5 No's," "3 Yes's," and "4 Safeties" programs. As a result, Da Nang's Human Development Index consistently ranks among the best in the country.

In the journey into a new era, to achieve the set goals and requirements, Mr. Quang said the city has identified three key areas that need to be focused on.

In addition to focusing on effectively carrying out Party building and rectification work, Da Nang will strongly promote economic growth associated with restructuring the economy, with science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the main driving forces. The goal is to build Da Nang into a new science and technology center of the country.

"Investing in socio-cultural development commensurate with economic development, maximizing the development of cultural and human factors, ensuring social security and further improving the quality of life for the people, and researching and building a socialist model that comprehensively develops the characteristics of socialist human beings in Da Nang city," Mr. Quang emphasized the orientation.
