The Consulate General of Vietnam in Shanghai held a memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong.

The staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Shanghai respectfully bid farewell to formerPresident Tran Duc Luong.

All staff of the Consulate General, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Office in Hangzhou, the Vietnam Airlines Branch in China, along with representatives of the Vietnamese community and overseas students in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang respectfully offered incense and observed a minute of silence to commemorate and bid farewell to former President Tran Duc Luong.

Speaking at the funeral, Vietnamese Consul General in Shanghai Nguyen The Tung expressed his deepest condolences at the passing of former President Tran Duc Luong and expressed gratitude for the former President's great contributions to the Party's revolutionary cause, the country's construction and development in general, and promoting relations with China in particular.

Deputy Mayor Giai Dong conveyed his deep condolences and expressed his infinite sorrow to the Party, Government, people of Vietnam and the family of comrade Tran Duc Luong.

Highly appreciating the results achieved in the exchange and cooperation between Shanghai and Vietnam in recent times, Ms. Giai Dong affirmed that the Shanghai government will continue to effectively implement the common perception of the two countries' senior leaders, is ready to further expand exchanges and cooperation, share development experiences with Vietnam, and create the most favorable conditions for the activities of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Shanghai.

Expressing gratitude for the special sentiments of the Shanghai Municipal Government and Comrade Giai Dong personally towards former President Tran Duc Luong and the Vietnam-China relationship, Consul General Nguyen The Tung said that the Consulate General will continue to maintain close relations with Shanghai's functional agencies, effectively implement the important common perceptions of the two countries' senior leaders, promote exchanges and cooperation between ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam and Shanghai to achieve more substantive results, contributing to the continuous development and depth of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

On May 24-25, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Government, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries sent wreaths to pay tribute to former Politburo member and former President Tran Duc Luong.

Representatives of the Jiangsu and Zhejiang provincial governments, the Consulate Generals of ASEAN countries, the Consulate in Shanghai, and many representatives of organizations, businesses, and the Vietnamese and local communities sent wreaths, condolences, visited and signed the condolence book for former President Tran Duc Luong.
