Young driver hits man crossing the street, flees hundreds of kilometers

On January 24, the Traffic Police Department of Binh Dinh Province Police said that Tuy Phuoc Traffic Police Station, under the Traffic Police Department of Binh Dinh Province Police, in coordination with the Traffic Police force of Binh Thuan Province Police, arrested the truck driver who hit a man crossing the street and killed him and then fled.

Previously, at about 2:30 a.m. on January 23, at Km 1191+490, National Highway 1A (in Hamlet 5, Hoa Hoi Village, Cat Hanh Commune, Phu Cat District, Binh Dinh Province), Mr. Tran Van L. (40 years old, residing in Chanh Danh Village, Cat Tai Commune, Phu Cat District) was walking on National Highway 1A in the West - East direction.

While walking across the road, Mr. L. was struck and killed by a car (license plate, type of vehicle, and driver unknown) traveling from north to south.

After the accident, the driver fled the scene.

Upon receiving the news, Tuy Phuoc Traffic Police Station sent forces to the scene, coordinating with the Investigation Police Agency of Phu Cat District Police to search for the vehicle that caused the accident.

Through reviewing camera data sources and toll stations on the route, the authorities identified the vehicle suspected of causing the traffic accident as truck 79H-012.93. Tuy Phuoc Traffic Police Station and the Phu Cat District Police Investigation Agency contacted the Traffic Police teams on National Highway 1A to capture the subject and the vehicle that caused the accident.

At 12:24 PM on January 23rd, at Km 1605+500 on National Highway 1A, a traffic police team from the Traffic Police Department of Binh Thuan Provincial Police discovered and apprehended a truck with license plate 79H-012.93. The driver of the vehicle at the time the Binh Thuan Provincial Police Traffic Police Department stopped the truck was Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son (29 years old, residing in Tinh Thien commune, Quang Ngai city, Quang Ngai province).

Initially, Nguyen Ngoc Son confessed to being the driver of vehicle 79H-012.93 that hit and killed Mr. Lap.

The case is currently being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
