Zelenskyy told U.S. governors: "The only thing we are asking for is full support, from air defense systems for cities, weapons for frontline soldiers, support in protecting normal life and reconstruction."

Zelenskyy's appeal at the National Governors Association's summer meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, showed his willingness to connect with other leaders in the U.S. to promote aid for his country.
He was greeted with enthusiastic cheers after being introduced by Utah Governor Spencer Cox, a Republican and current president of the National Governors Association. Cox and the Ukrainian leader signed a trade agreement between the state of Utah and the Kyiv region.
Meanwhile, Hawaii Governor Josh Green, a Democrat, said that several governors from both parties had pledged in a closed-door meeting with the Ukrainian leader to urge the wealthiest people in their states to provide humanitarian aid.
Zelenskyy's appeal came days after NATO leaders met in Washington and pledged further support for Ukraine.
This week, NATO members agreed on a new program to provide lasting military aid to Ukraine. They also declared that Ukraine is on an "irreversible" path to joining NATO.
However, many Republican members, including former President Donald Trump, remain skeptical and, in some cases, oppose continued military support for Ukraine.
