Top 5 best-selling cheap sedans in Vietnam in May 2023

According to the latest report from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), Hyundai Thanh Cong Joint Venture (TC Motor), and VinFast , sales across the Vietnamese automobile market continued to decline for the second consecutive month in May 2023.
Specifically, total sales reached only 26,414 vehicles, a 14% decrease compared to the previous month and a significant 49% decrease compared to the same period last year. Of these, the passenger car segment accounted for 20,171 vehicles, a 12% decrease compared to the previous month. Regarding sedan sales, 4,708 units were sold, still ranking above MPVs and below SUVs.
Here are the top 5 best-selling affordable sedans in the Vietnamese market in May 2023:
1. Honda City: In May, Honda City sold 1,025 units, a slight decrease of 9% compared to the previous month (1,137 units), and continued to maintain its leading position in the ranking of affordable sedan models. Total sales of Honda City in Vietnam since the beginning of the year have reached 4,623 units delivered to customers.
The Honda City remains the sportiest- designed car in its segment, earning it enthusiastic consumer acceptance. Currently, the Honda City is priced between 529 and 599 million VND across three versions.
2. Hyundai Accent: In May 2023, the Hyundai Accent sold 920 units, ranking second after the Honda City. Cumulative sales from the beginning of the year reached a total of 5,913 units delivered to customers. With this cumulative sales figure, the Hyundai Accent continues to lead the B-segment sedan market.
The Hyundai Accent is currently sold on the market in four versions, with listed prices ranging from 426 to 542 million VND.
3. Toyota Vios: Despite the launch of an upgraded version, the Toyota Vios still seems to lag behind its two rivals, the Honda City and Hyundai Accent, in the B-segment sedan market. In May 2023, Toyota Vios sold 586 units to Vietnamese customers, bringing the cumulative sales from the beginning of the year to 3,476 units.
Currently, the new Toyota Vios is on sale with some exterior upgrades and enhanced safety and convenience features. The car still comes in three versions, with slightly reduced prices for the E CVT (528 million VND) and E MT (479 million VND), while the G CVT remains unchanged (592 million VND).
4. Mazda3: In May, Mazda3 sales saw a slight increase, reaching 405 units, two more than the previous month. Cumulative sales of the Mazda3 since the beginning of the year reached 2,014 units.
The Mazda3 was launched in late 2019, but by the end of 2022, the 2.0L engine variant had been discontinued. The car still maintains three versions: Deluxe, Luxury, and Premium, with prices ranging from 699 to 789 million VND.
5. Mazda2: In May 2023, Mazda2 sales reached 386 units, an increase of 1 unit compared to April. Cumulative sales for the first 5 months of 2023 reached 1,809 units.
The Mazda2 is imported as a complete unit from Thailand. It comes in three versions: AT, Luxury, and Premium, with two variants: sedan and hatchback, priced from 479 to 619 million VND.
