On October 16th, the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation Works (Transportation Board) announced that the project to expand the road connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway (section from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2) is currently in the process of selecting contractors for construction, supervision, and project insurance.
According to the plan, the contractor selection process is expected to be completed in October 2025.

It is expected that from October 25th to 27th, 2025, the Traffic Management Board will submit to the Department of Construction for approval the plan for rerouting road and waterway traffic to facilitate construction.
The project will then commence construction at the end of October 2025, and be completed and put into operation in December 2026.
The project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway (section from An Phu interchange to Ring Road 2) has a total length of 3.2 km, expanding from 4 lanes to 8 lanes.
The project has a total investment of 938 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget. The Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation Works is assigned as the investor.
Currently, the access road to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway frequently experiences traffic congestion due to overload.
Statistics from the Department of Construction show that since its opening in 2016, the volume of traffic has continuously increased (an average of 11.12% per year).
The volume of traffic has exceeded the capacity of the access road from the An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2, which was designed to handle only about 50,000 vehicles per day by 2025 (approximately 50,000 vehicles per day - calculated using 5-seater cars as a standard).
Therefore, investing in expanding the access road from the An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2 from 4 lanes to 8 lanes is crucial for connecting to Long Thanh International Airport.
