Ho Chi Minh City is Asia's leading MICE tourism destination for the fourth consecutive year.

The 2023 World MICE Awards ceremony was held on the evening of March 6th in Berlin, Germany. Ho Chi Minh City's award as Asia's leading MICE destination further strengthens the city's position in the international tourism market.

Speaking after the awards ceremony, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that the award from the World MICE Awards is an important milestone on the path towards becoming a leading destination in Asia by 2030, reflecting the international community's confidence in the potential of Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry.

Also at the awards ceremony, Vietravel Tourism Company was honored in three categories: Best MICE Tour Organizer in the World, Best MICE Tour Organizer in Asia, and Best MICE Tour Organizer in Vietnam 2023. In addition, Vietnam Airlines was also recognized as the leading MICE airline in Asia... contributing to putting Vietnam's tourism industry on the world tourism map.

Mr. Tran Doan The Duy, General Director of Vietravel, shared that these three major awards, along with the intensified exploitation of the MICE market, are considered a major boost in Vietravel's development orientation at present and for many years to come.

The World MICE Travel Awards recognize destinations, hotels, airlines, venues, and specialized MICE tourism service providers. This award is part of a series of awards developed from the World Travel Awards.

MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) guests are increasing rapidly.

According to data, in the first quarter of 2024, Saigontourist Travel served more than 12,000 domestic and international MICE tourists. Specifically in the Ho Chi Minh City market, Saigontourist Travel served more than 50 MICE groups with over 6,000 tourists.

Mr. Tran Quoc Bao, Deputy General Director of Saigontourist Travel, shared that the company has recorded impressive growth in domestic MICE tourism, with a 10% increase compared to the same period last year. In addition to the increase in the number of tour groups, the size of each group has also increased significantly in many MICE tours, with the largest being a 700-person group traveling from Hanoi to Ninh Binh and a 600-person conference group in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to statistics from Vietluxtour Travel, in the first three months of 2024, the company signed contracts with thousands of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) clients, representing a 35% increase in both client volume and revenue compared to the same period last year. Of the total number of domestic MICE clients in Q1 2024, the majority chose hotels and resorts with 3-4 star service standards. Approximately 30% of corporate clients opted for 5-star resorts combined with in-person or online conferences on a national or global scale. The average budget for a domestic MICE tour was approximately 6 million VND per person.

Mr. Tran The Dung, General Director of Vietluxtour, commented that the MICE tourism needs of tourists have changed significantly after the Covid-19 pandemic, with more diverse service types and optimized quality. At the same time, the need to integrate and update technological features into MICE products is also of particular interest to corporate tourists.
