On October 8, according to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health , in order to shorten the gap in access to health care services between regions, the unit is proposing to the City's leaders to approve the policy of building facilities 2 and 3 of Tu Du Hospital, Hung Vuong Hospital and Oncology Hospital in the Ba Ria-Vung Tau area (old).

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, through a field survey, the Department noted that in the old Ba Ria-Vung Tau area, there are still many land locations that can be added to the land use planning for the health sector.

Of which, there are 2 real estate facilities of Ba Ria Hospital (old) and Le Loi Hospital (old) that have not been reused after the 2 general hospitals above have moved to new facilities.

Therefore, the Department of Health proposed to use these two real estate facilities to prioritize the construction of specialized hospitals in the fields of Oncology and Obstetrics. These are two specialties that for many years, the Health sector of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province (old) has encountered many difficulties in human resources, so it has not been able to effectively implement.

Therefore, people in the area have to travel to upper-level hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City (old) for examination and treatment, causing many inconveniences for people and increasing the pressure of overload at lower-level hospitals.

The Department of Health proposed that the City leaders approve the policy for specialized hospitals at the end of the line in obstetrics and gynecology (including Tu Du Hospital or Hung Vuong Hospital) to deploy a second facility at Le Loi Hospital (old, address 22 Le Loi Street, Vung Tau Ward) and the Oncology Hospital to deploy a third facility at Ba Ria Hospital (old, address 13 Pham Ngoc Thach Ward, Ba Ria Ward).

These are the final hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City that are currently overloaded with patients.

According to the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the conversion is completely appropriate when these lands have been approved for detailed planning 1/500 in Decision No. 4316/QD-UBND dated June 10, 2025 of the People's Committee of Vung Tau City (old) and the planning project to become a hospital has been announced.

At the same time, the conversion is also in line with the orientation of the Ho Chi Minh City Health sector on improving medical capacity in the Ba Ria - Vung Tau area (old).

After the City People's Committee approves the policy, the Department of Health will coordinate with relevant departments and branches to develop a project to establish facilities 2 and 3 of end-level specialized hospitals at the old Le Loi Hospital and the old Ba Ria Hospital to submit to the City People's Committee for consideration and approval.

This is a follow-up activity to improve the quality of medical service provision to people in the Ba Ria-Vung Tau area that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has implemented.

In recent times, the Department of Health has implemented many programs such as: Rotating specialist doctors from leading hospitals in the City to work at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center; signing agreements to support technical transfer to Ba Ria General Hospital and Vung Tau General Hospital from leading general and specialized hospitals in the City.

In the coming time, the Department of Health will continue to seek breakthrough and feasible solutions to advise the City's leaders to further shorten the gap in health care between areas of the City./.
