Nguyen Gia Tri and Ta Ty's paintings and famous works

On the morning of June 27, at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association, collector Vu Dinh Hai opened the exhibition "Once-famous works of old Saigon", introducing to the art-loving public about 60 paintings, mainly created in the period 1960 - 1975 by Southern artists.

The artists whose works were once famous in old Saigon are on display this time include: Be Ky, Ho Hoang Dai, Ho Phong, Ho Thanh Duc, Hoang Vinh, Huy Dung, Le Chanh, Le Minh, Luong The Hien, Nguyen Cuong, Nguyen He, Nguyen Tri Minh, Nguyen Van Phuong, Nguyen Than, Pham Co, Phuong Linh, Phuong Quang, Quach Phuoc, Pham Dinh Tin, Ta Ty, Van Den, Vu Huynh, Pham Dai Binh, Vo Doan Giap, Van Phung, Nguyen Huu Thinh, Nguyen Khac Vinh, Duy Liem and Ha Cam Tam.

Viewers "met again" painter Be Ky (1938 - 2021) with a painting style that goes between sketching and shaping in a very rustic and emotional composition. It can be said that she is a phenomenon of "Saigon's sidewalk" - in a beautiful sense and a symbol of the spirit of self-study and self-painting. Meanwhile, Ho Hoang Dai (born 1937) and Ho Thanh Duc (1940 - 2025) brought a very unique technique of wallpaper painting in terms of space and rich in expression. In particular, the exhibition displays paintings by Nguyen Gia Tri and Ta Ty, including some of Nguyen Gia Tri's largest abstract lacquer paintings, with his pioneering brushwork, which are very rare to see - from the unique collection of Vu Dinh Hai.

Since the 1980s, Vu Dinh Hai has been collecting paintings and displaying them at his home, with a collection of about 300 extremely valuable paintings. The exhibition runs until July 3.
