Since its launch in 2016, the campaign has generated thousands of events worldwide , where girls not only showcase their leadership potential but also contribute their voices to shaping the future.
In Vietnam, the Girls Takeover campaign has been running for many years and has consistently attracted strong interest from the community and the media.
Beyond simply empowering girls to temporarily take on important roles, the Girls Takeover initiative is symbolic in its pursuit of greater participation in social issues, particularly children's rights and gender equality.
By giving girls the opportunity to experience leadership positions in organizations and businesses, Plan International aims to change societal perceptions of women's roles in all fields.
This year, the Girls Takeover activity took the form of a mock meeting of the Board of Directors of Plan International in Vietnam, including the Country Director and other key positions.
In this program, six girls were selected to play the roles of senior members of the organization and participate in discussions and share opinions with the leadership team.
During the mock meeting, the empowered girls posed many practical and insightful questions to the Plan International Vietnam leadership and delegates for discussion.

Vo Thi Phuong Chi, Vice President of the Youth Union of Konray District, Kon Tum Province, who took on the role of Human Resources and Development Manager, posed the question, "How can young people participating in Plan projects have the opportunity to become Plan employees in the future?"
In addition, the topic of what Plan International needs to do to ensure that the needs of children and young people are reflected in the design of its projects was also a subject of great interest and lively discussion.
This is not only an opportunity for children to experience leadership roles, but also provides a platform for them to discuss important issues such as the participation of children and young people in programs and to propose solutions to enhance children's rights in projects.
The questions the children will ask will revolve around how to give children the opportunity to become employees, participate in the design and evaluation of projects, and ensure their right to provide feedback in development programs.
At the end of the event, delegates signed a plaque bearing the message: "Plan International Vietnam is committed to empowering children and young people, especially girls, in their journey to create change."
Speaking to TG&VN, Migena Shulla, Country Director of Plan International, said she was very impressed by the confidence, awareness, and intelligence of Vietnamese children participating in the empowerment event.

Ms. Migena Shulla emphasized: “The questions and solutions presented by the children were excellent. The event not only benefited the children but also inspired leaders like us to continue creating platforms and opportunities for them to express their voices.”
Through this event, Plan International Vietnam continues to affirm its unwavering commitment to promoting children's rights and gender equality in Vietnam. This is one of the practical steps the community is taking to support girls in developing their skills and asserting their position and role in society.
