Awarding the decision to recognize the Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education

(NLĐO) - On the afternoon of March 4th, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education announced the decision of the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the recognition of the university's rector.

Accordingly, Associate Professor Dr. Le Hieu Giang has been officially recognized as the Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education for the term 2020-2025.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Hieu Giang (53 years old) is a former student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. After graduating with a PhD in 2003 from the Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic), Dr. Giang has worked at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education until now.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc presented the decision of the Minister of Education and Training to Associate Professor Dr. Le Hieu Giang.

He was appointed Associate Professor in 2012 at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. During his time at the university, Mr. Giang held various positions: Deputy Head of the Department of Scientific Management - International Relations - Postgraduate Studies, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Deputy Head of the Training Department, Vice Rector and Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Vice Rector and Head of the Faculty of Information Technology.

Before officially assuming the position of Rector, Associate Professor Dr. Le Hieu Giang was assigned as Acting Rector from November 1, 2023 to October 31, 2024, and then continued to be assigned as Acting Rector from October 2024 until his appointment.

Having held various positions and leadership roles, from lecturer to Vice Rector in charge, Associate Professor Dr. Le Hieu Giang is considered to have a deep understanding of all areas of activity and development orientation of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.

His deep understanding of the university, its culture, and its people enabled him to lead with empathy yet decisiveness. This is evidenced by the outstanding achievements during the period when the university did not yet have an official president, continuing to maintain its position as one of the leading universities in engineering and technology in Vietnam.

Currently, the leadership of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education includes: Dr. Truong Thi Hien - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairperson of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, Rector; and the Vice Rectors are Dr. Quach Thanh Hai and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh.
