China outlines new action plan for Belt and Road Initiative

On the morning of October 18, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered an opening speech at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. The event was attended by representatives from 140 countries and 30 international organizations. On this occasion, Mr. Xi Jinping announced a new action plan for the Belt and Road Initiative - a global infrastructure development strategy he proposed 10 years ago to connect Asia with Africa and Europe through land and sea routes. Mr. Xi Jinping pledged that China would strengthen the railway network connecting China and Europe and build a logistics corridor across Asia. The Chinese leader also pledged to sign more free trade agreements and investment agreements with many countries, and lift restrictions on foreign investment in the manufacturing sector in China. Beijing also plans to promote an open global economy , establish "Silk Road" pioneer zones and sign free trade agreements with countries, completely abolishing market access restrictions. Xi Jinping said that the Development Bank and the Export-Import Bank of China will allocate nearly 48 billion USD each to support the promotion of projects. China's goal is to increase trade in goods to 32 trillion USD and trade in services to 5 trillion USD in the next 5 years. China is committed to promoting green growth, developing green infrastructure, strengthening cooperation in energy and transportation, and increasing support for countries in the Belt and Road international alliance. In addition, Beijing plans to establish a "Silk Road" tourism alliance to enhance cultural exchanges. Regarding the field of artificial intelligence, Mr. Xi Jinping said that China is committed to cooperating with countries to build laboratories to serve the development of science and technology and research.
