Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade launches AI Chatbot, virtual assistant for admissions

(NLDO) - After more than 6 months of testing, this AI chatbot system has achieved an accuracy of over 95% in answering questions in the initial recognition layer.

On May 8, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade officially launched AI chatbot - virtual admissions assistant (HUIT chatbot AI).

Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that HUIT chatbot AI was developed by the University's Digital Transformation Institute. The system combines large language models (LLMs) with modern information retrieval technology (RAG) to provide advanced AI solutions.

Chatbots are capable of consulting, responding and automatically answering questions related to admission information, tuition fees, admission methods, training majors, scholarship policies and student life. After more than 6 months of testing, the HUIT chatbot AI system has increased the accuracy of answering questions in the initial recognition layer to over 95%. In addition, this "virtual" assistant is supplemented with data from the admissions handbook, student handbook for the years 2020-2025, a Q&A system with more than 10,000 actual questions from candidates, tools to retrieve information from the school's admissions documents and on the internet...

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that it is expected that in the third and fourth quarters of 2025, HUIT chatbot AI version 2 will be deployed. Thereby, promoting digital transformation and AI application throughout the school; striving to become a digital university and a startup university by 2030.
