The new revenue figures have increased significantly.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education has just announced the tuition fees for the 2023-2024 academic year. Specifically, the tuition fee for the regular undergraduate program for students from the 2022 cohort and earlier ranges from VND 11,750,000 to VND 14,250,000 per semester.

Based on the credit-based pricing system, tuition fees range from 712,000 to 827,000 VND per credit. Therefore, calculated per academic year, the tuition fee is the same as the previously announced projected amount, ranging from 23.5 to 28.5 million VND per year depending on the field of study. Compared to the actual tuition fee collected by the school in the previous academic year, which was a maximum of 19.5 million VND, this year's new fee represents a significant increase.

For students in the 2023 cohort, the school applies tuition fees ranging from 13,250,000 to 16,250,000 VND per semester; equivalent to 773,000 to 944,000 VND per credit. Annual tuition fees will range from 26 to 32.5 million VND per student, depending on the field of study.

The specific tuition fees for the regular program are as follows:

Dr. Quach Thanh Hai, Head of the Training Department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, stated that this is a temporary tuition fee collection notice for the academic year, issued based on the economic and technical norms for university education this academic year.

The school is still awaiting official guidance from the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training regarding tuition fees for the new academic year before making any adjustments. "However, if the official tuition fee is equal to the level proposed in the draft Decree amending and supplementing some articles of Decree 81 of 2021 by the Ministry of Education and Training for the 2023-2024 academic year, then the school does not need to adjust because the current provisional fee is lower," Mr. Hai said.

Some notable adjustments

In the tuition fee announcement, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education also implemented several new policies starting from this academic year.

Specifically, tuition fees for the high-quality program for students admitted in 2023 will not be guaranteed to remain stable throughout the entire course, unlike previous years. Tuition fees for this academic year will range from 20.8 to 26.1 million VND per semester (equivalent to 41.6-52.2 million VND per academic year).

Previously, students from the 2022 cohort and earlier were guaranteed no change in tuition fees for the high-quality program throughout their entire course. Accordingly, tuition fees ranged from 14-17.5 million VND/semester depending on the program, major, and enrollment cohort (equivalent to 28-35 million VND/year).

The tuition fees for the high-quality program are as follows:

In addition, the school has adjusted tuition fees for retaking courses, improving grades, extending courses, taking courses outside the program, and taking a second program to be the same as the tuition fee for the first course. This adjustment applies to students in all courses.

However, tuition fees for online courses and English language courses vary between academic years. For courses from 2022 and earlier, online classes receive a 10% tuition fee reduction, while those who convert their foreign language certificates receive a 50% reduction.

For the 2023 cohort, the school does not charge additional tuition fees for the first enrollment in courses outside the main curriculum, such as physical education and national defense and security education. However, the school does not reduce tuition fees for online classes. Importantly, the school does not offer tuition fee waivers for cases involving the conversion of foreign language certificates. With this regulation, students with foreign language certificates that meet the graduation requirements, even if they do not participate in the foreign language courses organized by the school, are still required to pay tuition fees.
