According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, as of February 7th, the total area of rice fields with sufficient water for the 2025 Spring crop in the city reached over 57,200 hectares, equivalent to approximately 72% of the total area for the entire crop season.
Over the past period, 23 districts, counties, and towns in Hanoi have actively encouraged farmers to return to the fields for production. To date, some localities have basically secured enough water, including: Phu Xuyen 100%, Ung Hoa 95%, My Duc 91%, Chuong My 88%...

On February 7th, Hanoi's irrigation enterprises continued to operate 165 pumping stations (358 units), with a total capacity of 530,000 m3/hour, focusing on drawing and storing water to ensure water supply for spring crop production.
According to Dao Quang Khai, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Department of Irrigation and Disaster Prevention, the second phase of water extraction for the 2025 Spring crop will begin at 0:00 on February 8th. The drought relief period will last until 24:00 on February 14th, 2025 (7 days).
During this period, Hanoi's agricultural sector requested irrigation companies to strengthen their readiness to draw water from irrigation works; as soon as conditions permit, they must operate pumping stations and water intake gates along the Da River, Hong River, and Duong River to bring water to the fields for planting the 2025 Spring rice crop.
The People's Committees of districts, counties, and towns are disseminating information and encouraging people to take advantage of the increased water release from hydroelectric reservoirs to irrigate their fields; guiding people to implement measures to reinforce field and plot embankments to retain water in the fields; and urgently carrying out land preparation to ensure that water loss and waste are prevented in areas that have already received sufficient water...
