The Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and the Mekong Delta OCOP Product Connection Forum, themed “Ca Mau Shrimp Festival 2023 - Proud of Vietnamese Brands,” is a regional-scale event taking place from December 10-13.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, shrimp is closely linked to all aspects of life for the people of Ca Mau. Shrimp is not only a food source and an economic asset , but also a spiritual symbol that strengthens the bonds of friendship among the people of Ca Mau.
The main purpose of this event is also to build and develop the brand of Ca Mau's shrimp industry.

" The Shrimp Festival is not only an economic event but also a cultural and social event that connects many fields both domestically and internationally. The province has identified the Shrimp Festival as the main focus of this year's activities. From promotion and trade to communication, everything is centered around the shrimp festival. Ca Mau shrimp is a proud Vietnamese brand, and Ca Mau shrimp also contributes to elevating Vietnamese shrimp to the world ," Mr. Luan said.
With the theme "Ca Mau Shrimp Festival - Proud of Vietnamese Brands," the province focuses on activities that showcase the harmonious blend of traditional national culture with contemporary and modern cultural elements.
This event is on a regional scale, with the highlight being the opening ceremony featuring theatrical performances showcasing the unique characteristics of the land and people of Ca Mau, creating beautiful images and memories for tourists and friends from both within Vietnam and abroad.
" Shrimp is a daily staple in many families' meals. Besides being a commodity that helps people prosper and contributes to the province's economic growth, Ca Mau shrimp is also incorporated into local culture and education. We must find a way to highlight the image of shrimp in this event," the Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee further shared.
Throughout the Shrimp Festival, there will also be a "Ca Mau Seafood Culinary Festival" combining the finest aspects of Vietnamese cuisine.
Here, organizations, individuals, chefs, and other businesses in the culinary field will participate in preparing and decorating dishes with images related to shrimp and other endemic aquatic species of Ca Mau province, according to different themes.
Camimex, a company specializing in eco-friendly shrimp products, exports its products to European and South Korean markets.
The 2023 Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and OCOP Forum of the Mekong Delta included many prominent activities related to shrimp, such as: an exhibition and trade space for the shrimp industry and OCOP products with nearly 400 booths at Phan Ngoc Hien Square; a seminar on: Building a value chain for the Ca Mau shrimp industry, the current situation and solutions for sustainable development of the shrimp industry…
In addition, the event also includes conferences such as: Announcing the planning and investment promotion of Ca Mau province; summarizing the program of linkage and cooperation in tourism development between Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta; and connecting trade for OCOP products in the Mekong Delta region in 2023. Furthermore, various trade and tourism promotion programs are also organized.
The Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and the Mekong Delta OCOP Forum 2023, organized by the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, aimed to promote the Ca Mau shrimp industry brand and the province's OCOP products to domestic and international tourists; and to create opportunities for units and businesses to meet, introduce products, and seek cooperation and development opportunities.
Ca Mau has 137 OCOP products, of which 53 products from 22 businesses are processed from shrimp, accounting for 39%. OCOP products processed from shrimp in the province, such as dried shrimp, shrimp crackers, shrimp floss, shrimp patties, roasted shrimp, sour shrimp paste, pressed dried shrimp, etc., are considered suitable for consumer tastes and needs, and strongly reflect the unique characteristics and traditions of the locality.
Over the past period, Ca Mau has made efforts to upgrade the OCOP products through practical actions, such as: investing in equipment to serve the production process, improving quality, innovating packaging and designs, and aiming to promote, develop and expand the consumer market…
