Graduating from Ho Chi Minh City University of Labor and Social Affairs, then working in the banking sector and then supervising construction works in Dong Nai, Doan Quoc Bao's life (Block 6, Vinh Phu Ward, Nghe An Province) initially stabilized. However, when he received the call for the preliminary examination for military service in 2026, Bao immediately wrote a volunteer application, arranged his work and returned to his hometown in Nghe An. Doan Quoc Bao shared: "When I received the call from the ward, I clearly saw that this was the responsibility and duty of a citizen. Therefore, I wrote a volunteer application and returned to my hometown to participate in the military service examination. Although the work in Dong Nai is favorable, being able to contribute to the Fatherland is the pride of the youth."

In Nam Dan commune, Nguyen Quoc Tuan, who has just graduated from high school, is the main breadwinner of his family in Trang Den parish. Writing a voluntary application to join the army right after receiving the preliminary examination order, Nguyen Quoc Tuan shared: "Protecting the Fatherland is a sacred responsibility, especially for young people. When the military service recruitment order was issued, I fully participated with the desire to contribute my youth to the Fatherland."

The self-awareness, responsibility and volunteer spirit of many young people have contributed significantly to helping communes and wards of Nghe An province to conveniently organize military service examinations, especially in the context of an increasing number of young workers going to work far away.

The first year of implementing the two-tier local government model - a change that has both facilitated operations, but also posed challenges for the management and screening of citizens of military age. The biggest difficulty is the large number of young people working far away, making it difficult to coordinate the sending of orders and ensure their timely return for military service examination. Realizing this, the military service councils of communes and wards in Nghe An province have proactively completed their membership, clearly assigned responsibilities to each individual, and used military service results as a criterion to evaluate the level of task completion of the presiding cadres.

Comrade Hoang Nghia Hung, Chairman of Nam Dan Commune People's Committee said: "Immediately after operating the new administrative apparatus, we focused on perfecting the commune's military service council, proactively developing plans and organizing the implementation of work. Citizens who are ready to join the army in the commune have been examined for military service, of which 25 citizens have volunteered to join the army."

Vinh Phu Ward also mobilized the entire political system to vigorously participate, promote the Law on Military Service, and encourage young people who are working far away to return to participate in the military examination. Comrade Nguyen The Than, Chairman of Vinh Phu Ward People's Committee shared: "Closely following the direction and guidance of superiors, this year the ward has deployed the military recruitment work early, fully informing each block and each residential group. The ward is determined to do a good job in the military recruitment work, ensuring enough troops according to the assigned quota."

To ensure "firmness from the grassroots", localities organize a systematic and serious preliminary examination, in accordance with health regulations... Members of the Military Service Council have a firm grasp of each case, compare each person's records, and avoid missing or doing things carelessly. Thanks to this method, many young people with high educational qualifications and stable jobs are still willing to return to participate in the examination. Phan Doan Nam, who graduated in accounting (Vinh University), is currently waiting for a job and shares: "As soon as I received the preliminary examination order, I wrote an application to volunteer for military service. If I am selected, I hope to serve in the Army for a long time."

The spirit of self-awareness and serious attitude of young people have contributed to improving the quality of military service examination. Currently, all localities in Nghe An province have implemented military service examination according to plan, ensuring seriousness, democracy and fairness. Many communes and wards have achieved a very high rate of young people participating in the examination, the rate of citizens meeting military service health has also increased compared to previous years. With careful preparation right from the first stage, Nghe An strives to complete the military recruitment target in 2026 to ensure quality, sufficient quantity, on time, worthy of the tradition of the heroic homeland.
