In his most recent interview with the South Korean media, coach Kim Sang Sik shared that the player who impressed him most while coaching the Vietnamese national team was Doan Ngoc Tan, rather than Hoang Duc, Quang Hai, Tien Linh, or Xuan Son.
“ I am impressed with Doan Ngoc Tan because he always puts the team's interests above his own. When he loses the ball, he immediately chases after it and wins it back, then passes it to a teammate. The team needs stars, but it also cannot do without those who silently contribute,” – Coach Kim Sang Sik said about his player.

Kim Sang Sik's assessment of Doan Ngoc Tan is accurate, as the player from Son Tay played the role of a "silent hero" in the midfield and contributed to Vietnam's championship win at the ASEAN Cup 2024.
However, in the match against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the player currently playing for Thanh Hoa province was unable to participate due to injury, posing a significant challenge for coach Kim Sang Sik and the Vietnamese national team.
