In the match against Yemen U17, Vietnam U17 suffered an early setback when a player received a red card for a foul just outside the penalty area. The West Asian team gained control of the ball in the following minutes, while Vietnam U17 was forced to retreat to their own half and play defensively on the counter-attack.

Despite having limited possession, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's players always knew how to create chances with sharp attacks. Cong Phuong was one of the most energetic players in the midfield. Several opportunities were created, but Vietnam U17 failed to capitalize. Near the end of the first half, after a fast-paced attack, Yemen U17 scored the opening goal.

Vietnam U.17 played their final friendly match before heading to Thailand.

In the second half, coach Hoang Anh Tuan made a series of substitutions, and the Vietnam U17 team played very fluidly, controlling the game and creating many scoring opportunities. However, Cong Phuong and his teammates were unable to score an equalizer. Later, Vietnam U17 conceded another goal after an attack from Yemen U17.

Despite losing 0-2 to their opponents, the coaching staff acknowledged that the Vietnam U17 team still has areas to improve before the tournament. Nevertheless, their determination and relatively good execution of the planned tactics were positive points, contributing to the young players' positive performance.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan said: "In this match, both teams made many substitutions to improve their performance, so they couldn't really show anything. The coaching staff gave all the players a chance to play in this training match to gain more experience. Of course, conceding goals against an opponent whose physical condition wasn't much better than Vietnam U17's requires more reasonable adjustments. I also want to add that yesterday, the players trained very hard, so it's understandable that they couldn't show much in the match against Yemen U17. We are preparing for a tournament, not just this match. Therefore, in the next week, the coaching staff will make adjustments to prepare for the tournament in the best way possible."

The Vietnam U.17 team did not perform at their best against Yemen U.17 because they had just finished a strenuous training session.

According to the schedule, on the morning of June 14th, the Vietnam U17 team will fly to Thailand to participate in the 2023 AFC U17 Championship, which will take place in Thailand from June 15th to July 2nd. According to the draw results, Vietnam U17 is in Group D along with Japan, India, and Uzbekistan. In this year's tournament, the teams will play a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The four teams that reach the semi-finals will qualify for the U17 World Cup.

According to the tournament organizers' schedule, the Vietnam U17 team will play all three group stage matches at Thammasat Stadium, at two different times: 5 PM and 7 PM. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team will play their opening match against India U17 on June 17th, followed by matches against Japan U17 (June 20th) and Uzbekistan U17 (June 23rd).
