The Vietnam U23 team will play their final group stage match of the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers against Yemen U23 at 7 PM on September 9th to compete for first place in Group C.
This is a match where coach Kim Sang-sik's team has two options: since they are ranked above U.23 Yemen, a draw would still secure their place in the next round, while their opponent would have to win.
But coach Kim Sang-sik has another advantage that worries the Yemen U23 team: all the players in the attacking line are goalscorers.
Will it be Thanh Nhàn's turn next?

Thanh Nhàn is very determined to score her first goal for the Vietnam U.23 team.

At the 2026 U.23 Asian Championship qualifiers held in Viet Tri, new names like Ngoc My, Le Viktor, and Van Thuan all scored their first goals for the Vietnam U.23 team under coach Kim Sang-sik.
This adds to the list of strikers in the Vietnam U.23 team who have scored in official tournaments under coach Kim. Including the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 Championship, there are also Dinh Bac (2 goals), Van Khang, and Cong Phuong.
Looking at the bigger picture, in the two official tournaments under the personal guidance of coach Kim Sang-sik, the Vietnam U23 team showcased a different hero in each match, making it very difficult for opponents to defend against them.
Currently, Thanh Nhàn is the only striker in the Vietnamese U23 team yet to score a goal. Given his current diverse scoring form, will this signal that the PVD-CAND striker will find the back of the net, helping the Vietnamese U23 team defeat Yemen and qualify for the U23 Asian Championship in Saudi Arabia in January 2026?
