Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he has issued an order to increase funding for equipping the country's brigades with new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
In his nightly video address on December 9, President Zelensky announced that he had received a report from Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian President Pavlo Palisa regarding the provision of additional funding for UAV production.
"We have just approved the budget for such direct payments. But now I see that the amount is insufficient. Therefore, I have instructed the chancellor to increase funding for the brigades in the coming days, by many times," Zelensky said.
The conflict map looks less optimistic for Ukraine as Russia accelerates its offensive.
Ukraine is increasingly focusing on deploying UAVs in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. In October, President Zelensky announced that Ukraine had signed a contract to produce 1.5 million UAVs this year and had the capacity to increase production to 4 million per year.
In another development, Sergiy Nykyforov, spokesman for President Zelensky, said on December 9 that Ukraine plans to convene a meeting with key European partners in December to coordinate a common position, ensuring Kyiv has a firm footing on the battlefield and in any potential negotiations.

"Ukraine is gathering key European partners, countries that, along with the United States, can ensure the maximum strengthening of our state," said Sergiy Nykyforov. Nykyforov added that the list of participating countries is still being finalized.
Nykyforov added that the participating countries should include those that possess long-range weapons, invest in Ukrainian arms production, and can determine Ukraine's future within NATO.
Ukraine is making efforts to increase its appeals for help from supportive countries, especially ahead of the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, 2025.
