Reading the latest books by author Le Xuan Son, one sees that he belongs to the group of writers who blend journalism and literature, where events and things encountered at each step of his journey are viewed through the lens of culture and history, filtered by a sensitive and resonant soul. What sets him apart as a writer is his thorough understanding of the culture, history, and people of the places he visits, resulting in profound feelings and rich associations when immersed in the scenery. Moreover, he doesn't let these feelings and associations slip away but accumulates them into a substantial volume, which eventually flows into words in his works.
The poetry collection "I've Long Been a City Dweller" reflects the nostalgia of a rural person who has been away from their roots for a very long time. The themes are quite diverse, ranging from romantic love, homeland, country, and family to reflections and anxieties about the changing times…
The collection of essays "White Clouds Still Fly" features portraits of more than 20 writers, poets, painters, and musicians... From To Huu, To Hoai, To Ngoc Van, Huu Loan, Quang Dung to Trinh Cong Son, Phu Quang, Duong Bich Lien,... these are the figures he had the chance to meet, converse with, interview, or hear stories from their families and relatives during his writing career. The author attempts to reveal something about the essence of these Vietnamese talents, about works that are precious cultural sediments that will forever remain with the country. Values like white clouds, forever flying.
"Like the Water of the Mekong River" is a collection of essays and notes rich in literary merit and documentation about 11 of the countries the author has had the opportunity to visit across continents. In the book, the author focuses on the depth of culture and history of these countries and their relationship with Vietnam, especially the bonds of affection that evoke and leave behind profound emotions.

| Colleagues, literary friends, and family came to congratulate journalist Le Xuan Son on the launch of his trilogy of books. |
Writer Nguyen Quang Thieu, President of the Vietnam Writers Association, sent his congratulations to journalist Le Xuan Son: “With two volumes of essays and travelogues and a poetry collection released at the same time, and despite being a genuine journalist, I still want to call him a poet because what he feels, what he writes, and most importantly, what is contained in his words, reveals his soul. The qualities of a journalist have given him the ability to discover and select details of life to include in his works, and then establish a modern structure in each article. Details have helped him create portraits of characters that are both unique and familiar, both generalizing the characters' personalities and portraying the complex layers of their souls. Details have helped him convincingly depict the lands and cultures he has experienced.”
