Ho Chi Minh City artists build and develop literature and art in the new era

On December 3, the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Ho Chi Minh City organized a scientific seminar with the theme: Ho Chi Minh City artists promote creativity in implementing Conclusion No. 84-KL/TW dated June 21, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW of the 10th Politburo on "continuing to build and develop literature and arts in the new period".

Attending the workshop were comrade Hong Kim Ngoc, Head of the Department of Culture - Arts, Propaganda and Mass Mobilization of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. The workshop was chaired by: Architect Nguyen Truong Luu, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations; Ms. Duong Cam Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association and Mr. Le Nguyen Hieu, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Dance Artists Association.

Comrade Hong Kim Ngoc, Head of the Department of Culture - Arts, Propaganda and Mass Mobilization of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, spoke at the workshop.

Conclusion No. 84-KL/TW mentions 7 tasks, all of which are basic and central tasks to make culture and arts truly become “a particularly important and sophisticated field of culture”. This is the Party’s new and clear viewpoint on “cultural management thinking” and “cultural thinking” that needs to be understood correctly and fully.

Because "cultural management thinking" is the function and task of the state management agency of culture, and "cultural thinking" is the function and task of the Literature and Arts Associations, of organizations and individuals registered to operate in this field.

In addition, Conclusion No. 84-KL/TW also sets out tasks such as: Developing cultural industry; arousing and strongly promoting the desire to contribute and the creative capacity of artists; strongly promoting the development of the field of research, theory and criticism of culture and arts; encouraging the connection between the development of culture and arts with the tourism and service industries; promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to international friends... In the context of the country entering a "new era - the digital era - the era of applying advances in science and technology", it requires artists to also approach and apply scientifically and selectively in their own creative activities.

Professor Nguyen Xuan Tien, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association, presented his opinion on promoting creativity in building and developing literature and arts in the new period from the perspective of fine arts.

The workshop received 22 presentations from leaders and members of professional associations such as the Writers' Association, the Theater Association, the Music Association, the Fine Arts Association, the Dance Artists' Association, the Photography Association, the Architects' Association... At the program, representatives of professional associations, including director Thanh Hiep, Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Tien, MSc. Nguyen Thi Minh Hue , MSc. Nguyen Duc Lap, MSc. Vo Cong Phuoc, and photographer Tran Quoc Dung, shared about the current situation as well as proposed solutions to create conditions for artists in the city to create, thereby creating many valuable literary and artistic works for the community.

Mr. Le Nguyen Hieu, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Dance Artists Association, said that after the conference ended, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations will synthesize the opinions and send them to the city's responsible agencies, thereby joining hands to develop the city's culture and arts in the new period.
