As the chosen starting point for the development of community-based tourism along Phu Ninh Lake, the villages of Phuoc Bac and An My, located within the Phu Ninh Lake basin, are associated with historical sites such as Ganh Gau, Hang Bat, Bac Tam Ky Clinic, Tam Ky City Party Committee, and the An Lau Crossroads historical site. They also feature the scenic sites of Thac Trang - Ham Ho Waterfall, Dam Lang, Dam Tay, and the Bong Mieu gold mine.

The village roads of Phuoc Bac and An My hamlets run along the edge of Phu Ninh Lake, enjoying a clean and fresh climate thanks to the lush green orchards and cool breezes from the lake. Several tourist reception points have been invested in and are ready to welcome visitors for tourism and experiences. Many local products and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products are also beginning to be sold.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hue (Phuoc Bac village, Tam Lanh commune) shared that the people of the two villages enthusiastically supported the local government's plan to select them to build a community tourism destination along Phu Ninh Lake. To successfully develop this community tourism destination, the people voluntarily donated land, trees, and structures to work with the local government to complete the construction, upgrading, and renovation of village roads to create connectivity; and to build infrastructure to support community tourism development.

“The people will work together with the local government to build and protect the environment, ensuring a bright, green, clean, beautiful, and friendly environmental landscape. Investing in upgrading fences, gates, orchards, and ornamental plants will bring high economic efficiency, and new models of check-in points and souvenir photo spots for tourists will be built, ensuring the service of community tourism,” Mr. Hue said.
Leveraging community strengths
The selection and development of community-based tourism destinations along Phu Ninh Lake is not a spontaneous or isolated endeavor, but rather a collaborative effort involving the District People's Committee; the connection and consultation with the Da Nang Green Technology Institute; several travel businesses; and especially the support, training, and promotion of local tourism destinations in the future.

Mr. Nguyen Van Su, Chairman of the Tam Lanh Commune People's Committee, said that the plan to support community tourism development in Tam Lanh commune has been approved by the District People's Committee, with a total budget of nearly 7.5 billion VND for the 2023-2025 period. This involves the participation of organizations, individuals, and the community in the tourism sector, especially households living along Phu Ninh Lake in Phuoc Bac and An My villages, cooperatives, small and medium-sized enterprises, and businesses in the commune.

“The goal of this plan is to invest resources in improving infrastructure quality, supporting production development, developing garden-based economic models linked to sightseeing, improving the environmental landscape along the lake and residential areas, training human resources, and promoting... in order to develop it into a community tourism destination with eco-tourism and experiential tourism by 2025.”

"This includes creating tourism programs that allow visitors to experience local life and culture. Visitors can participate in activities such as farming, gardening, cooking traditional dishes, or experiencing traditional activities. Or they can experience green, sustainable activities such as cycling, mountain climbing, hiking, and participate in environmental conservation activities such as planting trees and organic gardening..." - Mr. Su shared.
