Train tickets for the 2026 Lunar New Year have sold more than 60,000 tickets after one month of opening for sale.

Railway transportation for the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 takes place from February 3, 2026 to March 8, 2026 (ie from December 16, At Ty year to January 20, Binh Ngo year). The Railway Industry organizes the operation of 55 trains, with a total of over 800 carriages, providing about 330,000 tickets for passengers to travel throughout.

Train tickets for the Lunar New Year (Tet) of the Year of the Horse 2026 went on sale from September 20, 2025, and by October 20, 2025, 64,200 tickets had been sold. This number represents 73% of the total tickets sold during the same period of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025. Online ticket sales channels (websites: dsvn.vn, vetau.com.vn, vetauonline.vn...) accounted for 66% of the total tickets sold, while the remaining 34% were sold at train station ticket counters.

Before Tet (Lunar New Year), the number of remaining train tickets is as follows: For the periods from February 3rd to February 9th, 2026 (before the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month) and from February 14th to February 16th, 2026 (27th to 29th day of the 12th lunar month), train tickets are still available to all stations.

During the peak period from February 10th to 14th, 2026 (corresponding to the 23rd to 27th of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake), approximately 2,500 tickets remain available on all trains for the entire journey. Specifically, the remaining tickets are for trains departing from Saigon/Di An/Bien Hoa to Vinh/ Hanoi stations: On February 10th, 2026 (23rd of the 12th lunar month), 1,045 tickets remain, for all stations; on February 11th, 2026 (24th of the 12th lunar month), 199 tickets remain, mostly soft seats, with Vinh station as the final destination; on February 12th, 2026 (25th of the 12th lunar month), 121 tickets remain, mostly soft seats, with Vinh station as the final destination. On February 13, 2026 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month), there are 175 tickets remaining, mostly soft seats, with Vinh station as the final destination; on February 14, 2026 (the 27th day of the 12th lunar month), there are 1,044 tickets remaining, for all stations.

Discount policies for Tet (Lunar New Year) 2026: Passengers who purchase tickets well in advance (10 days or more) for distances over 900 km will receive a discount of 5-15% for odd-numbered trains before Tet (from February 3rd to February 17th, 2026) and even-numbered trains after Tet (from February 21st to March 8th, 2026); a 3% discount for passengers purchasing tickets for Thong Nhat trains departing from Saigon station on February 15th, 2026 (the 28th day of the 12th lunar month) and traveling 1,000 km or more; a 2-12% discount for group ticket purchases of 11 or more people; discounts vary depending on the number of people, the time of ticket purchase, and the itinerary; a 5% discount on return tickets for passengers purchasing round-trip tickets. A 10-20% discount on tickets is offered to students from universities, academies, colleges, vocational schools, and professional training centers.

Regular discount programs: Discounts for social policy beneficiaries such as Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, victims of chemical poisoning, severely disabled people, the elderly, children aged 6 to under 10, students of universities, academies, colleges, vocational schools and professional training centers; passengers with customer cards; customers are only entitled to one highest discount rate (not cumulative).

Regulations regarding the sale of supplementary seats during Tet 2026: The railway industry will sell supplementary seats for children (from 6 to under 10 years old) when passengers have already purchased sleeper or seated tickets and request to buy an additional supplementary seat for a child; each adult passenger ticket can only be accompanied by one supplementary child seat, which will be assigned to share a seat with an adult on the train; supplementary seats will also be sold to officers and soldiers of the armed forces and police on urgent assignments, demobilization, or enlistment; and journalists on assignment.

Train tickets for Tet 2026 are sold on the following websites: www.dsvn.vn; vetau.com.vn, vetauonline.vn; giare.vetau.vn; at train stations, ticket sales points and ticket agents managed by the railway; through train ticket booking applications on mobile devices, e-wallets: Momo, VNPay , ShopeePay, ZaloPay, ViettelPay, banking applications (Smart Banking)… or through the ticket sales hotline at Saigon station 1900 1520, Hanoi station 1900 0109).

Regulations regarding ticket exchanges and refunds: A 30% deduction from the price printed on the train ticket will be applied to ticket exchanges and refunds during peak travel days. The standard exchange/refund fees apply on other days. Individual tickets must be exchanged or refunded at least 24 hours before the train departure time indicated on the ticket; group tickets must be exchanged or refunded at least 48 hours before the train departure time indicated on the ticket.

In addition, the railway industry has opened ticket sales for the following regularly scheduled Thong Nhat trains during the 2026 New Year holiday: Trains SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8 (Saigon – Hanoi), Trains SE21/SE22 (Saigon – Da Nang ), Trains SNT1/SNT2 (Saigon – Nha Trang), Trains SPT1/SPT2 (Saigon – Phan Thiet). When passenger demand increases, the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company will operate additional trains and add more carriages to meet the maximum needs of customers.
