VFF does not have to compensate assistant coach Troussier

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) leadership confirmed that it will not incur any costs when terminating the contracts with coach Philippe Troussier's assistants. When the French coach left the Vietnamese team, his assistants were not retained.

Coach Philippe Troussier's top assistants are Moulay Lahsen Azzeggouarh Wallen (Moroccan nationality) and Hatem Souissi (Tunisian nationality). Moulay Lahsen has a close relationship with Coach Troussier, having worked with the French coach since 2018.

Mr. Hatem Souissi was a colleague of Coach Troussier at Sfaxien Club (China) in 2014, Hangzhou Greentown (China) in 2015 and the Qatar team (2003-2004).

Besides foreign assistants, Coach Troussier also has Vietnamese assistants such as Nguyen Viet Thang, Truong Dinh Luat, Mai Xuan Hop, Ngo Tuan Vinh... These are all people who have worked with Mr. Troussier at the PVF Youth Football Training Center.

On the evening of March 26, the Vietnam Football Federation announced that it had reached an agreement to terminate the contract with coach Philippe Troussier. The decision was made just hours after the Vietnamese team suffered a 0-3 defeat to Indonesia at My Dinh Stadium.

The Vietnam Football Federation paid a sum of money to the French coach. However, this amount is much lower than the rumored figure of 40 billion VND. This amount is equal to 3 months of Mr. Troussier's salary and is considered as support money from the Vietnam Football Federation.

Mr. Troussier signed a contract with the Vietnam Football Federation at the end of February 2023. The contract lasts until mid-2026. Mr. Troussier's salary is said to be around 60,000 USD a month.

After 1 year of leading the Vietnamese national teams, Mr. Troussier failed to meet expectations. This coach only won a bronze medal at the 32nd SEA Games, was eliminated from the group stage of the 2023 Asian Cup and has little chance of advancing to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Vietnam Football Federation is looking for a coach to replace Mr. Troussier. At the Vietnam U23 level, coach Hoang Anh Tuan will lead the team to compete in the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals. The VFF is trying to find a new coach for the national team before the June training session. If there is no suitable candidate, the federation will appoint an interim coach.
