Ho Chi Minh City People's Court did not send a representative to the press conference, instead answering press questions in writing.
Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang has not been tried on June 1.
Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court plans to try Nguyen Phuong Hang's case from June 1 to 5. The trial decision has not yet been served to the defendant and the participants in the proceedings in the case.
However, the scheduled trial schedule has changed. The reason is that the scheduled trial time coincides with the trial schedule of many cases that were previously scheduled for trial, and at the same time, many lawyers involved in the case have not yet had access to the case files.
Ho Chi Minh City People's Court will have an official trial plan and serve the trial decision in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang when prosecuted and temporarily detained
Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang was prosecuted and detained from March 24, 2022.
The indictment determined that from around March 2021, through social networks, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang organized many livestreams to directly speak about personal privacy and content that affected the reputation and honor of 10 individuals, including: Mr. Vo Nguyen Hoai Linh (artist Hoai Linh), Ms. Nguyen Thi My Oanh (singer Vy Oanh), Ms. Dang Thi Han Ni (journalist, master of law Han Ni), Mr. Huynh Minh Hung (singer Dam Vinh Hung), Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Tien (singer Thuy Tien) and her husband Le Cong Vinh, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien (Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper), Ms. Dinh Thi Lan, Ms. Le Thi Giau, Ms. Truong Viet Ha.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Nhi, Ms. Le Thi Thu Ha, and Mr. Huynh Cong Tan, although not in conflict with the above individuals, because they are employees and receive salaries from Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang, they continuously perform acts of active assistance to Ms. Hang.
In addition, to increase the credibility of her statements, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang invited Dr. Dang Anh Quan to participate in the livestream. When Ms. Hang made offensive statements to others, Mr. Dang Anh Quan interacted, made related statements, contributed to encouraging her spirit, and gave her the will to commit the crime.
