No tomb building
Ly Nhan Tong had no son, despite his old age. Therefore, the king wrote an edict to the royal family, saying: "I have ruled the people for a long time without having a successor, to whom should I pass the throne? Therefore, I will raise the sons of the dukes and marquises Sung Hien, Thanh Khanh, Thanh Quang, Thanh Chieu, Thanh Hung, and choose the best one to make him crown prince." At that time, Sung Hien Marquis's son Ly Duong Hoan was only 2 years old but was intelligent and quick-witted. The king loved him very much and made him crown prince. In December, Dinh Mui year (January 15, 1128), King Ly Nhan Tong passed away at Vinh Quang palace. Crown prince Duong Hoan ascended the throne before the coffin. Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu recorded that, knowing that he was not well, the king called Grand Chancellor Luu Khanh Dam to receive the edict: "I have heard that all living beings do not die. Death is the great fate of heaven and earth, the reason of all things is like that. However, there is no one in the world who does not like to live but hates to die. Burying for posterity will lose the career of life, mourning to the point of harming life, I do not think it is right. I have little virtue, I have not done anything to bring peace to the people, when I die, I let my people wear sackcloth, cry day and night, reduce food and drink, stop offering sacrifices, making my faults heavier, then what kind of person will the world say I am? Mourning should be done after 3 days of removing the robes, so we should stop crying, burial should follow Han Van De, the key is to be frugal, do not build a separate tomb, should be buried right next to the previous emperor".
