On October 27, Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, Ngo Minh Nguyet, had a working session in Buenos Aires with the delegation of the Popular Movement for Participation (MPP) party, in the ruling coalition of the Broad Front (FA) of the Uruguayan Government , led by Congressman Victor Aldaya.
According to a VNA correspondent in Buenos Aires, speaking at the reception, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet highly appreciated the good cooperation in all fields between Vietnam and Uruguay over the past 30 years, especially emphasizing the relationship between political parties, including the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Uruguayan left-wing parties such as the Communist Party of Uruguay and MPP, both of which are currently part of the FA ruling coalition.
Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet also expressed her wish that the two countries strengthen cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Uruguayan political parties, as well as exchange delegations at all levels, promote parliamentary cooperation, including the activities of the Vietnam-Uruguay Friendship Parliamentarians' Association and the Uruguay-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Association, of which Congressman Aldaya is a member.
Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet said that Vietnam is currently coordinating with the Montevideo capital government to build a statue of President Ho Chi Minh at Vietnam Park in the Uruguayan capital, as well as placing a bronze plaque in his memory at the Montevideo Port, one of Uncle Ho's stops on his journey around the world to find a way to save the country in 1912.
For his part, Congressman Aldaya expressed his admiration for the heroic spirit of sacrifice and courage of the Vietnamese people throughout their history of fighting against foreign invaders, gaining independence, building and defending the country.
Congressman Aldaya also highly appreciated the political, economic and social achievements that the Vietnamese people have attained after national reunification, especially the remarkable development in 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process.
Congressman Aldaya affirmed his determination to promote and further strengthen the good cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the left-wing MPP and the Broad Front (FA), contributing to the development of relations between the two countries.
The MPP is one of the key forces in Uruguay’s left-wing FA coalition. Founded in 1989, the MPP has its roots in the Tupamaros guerrilla movement. Former President José “Pepe” Mujica (2010-2015) was a prominent figure in the party, known for his simple lifestyle and progressive ideas.
Today, President Yamandú Orsi, also from the MPP, continues Mr. Mujica's political legacy, focusing on social justice, sustainable development and expanding welfare for the Uruguayan people./.
