On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, on August 22nd (local time), the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela, in coordination with local press and media agencies, organized a press conference to provide the press and Venezuelan friends with information about the immense historical significance of the August Revolution, as well as updates on Vietnam's achievements after 80 years of defending, building, and developing the country.

Ambassador Vu Trung My delivered the opening remarks at the press conference.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Vu Trung My reviewed the important historical milestones since August 19th, emphasizing the core ideology of the August Revolution, under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, which is national independence linked with socialism. This is not just a political slogan, but also a guiding principle for a unique revolutionary path, simultaneously liberating the nation from foreign oppression and striving towards a just, equal, and prosperous society.

According to Ambassador Vu Trung My, world history is a series of stories about the powerful uprisings of colonized peoples, rising from the shadows of oppression to reclaim their freedom. Revolutions like the August Revolution of Vietnam and the Bolivarian Revolution of Venezuela are not only military victories but also powerful evidence of a truth: colonized peoples are perfectly capable of standing up for themselves and reclaiming control of their own destiny.

At the event, reporters and scholars asked many questions related to the historical significance of the August Revolution, Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements over the past 80 years, especially after nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi (Renovation) policy and international integration, and the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Venezuela.

Notably, in addition to asking questions, many reporters and scholars also shared information and thoughts on the historical significance of the August Revolution, its influence on the world revolutionary movement, and its similarities to the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela.

According to a reporter from Ultimas noticias , a striking similarity between the two revolutions is the central role of the masses. In Vietnam, from farmers and workers to intellectuals, everyone participated in the resistance, creating a nationwide force. In Venezuela, the working class and the poor were the core force in social movements, community organizations, and democratic elections. Both were "bottom-up" revolutions, where the people were not merely beneficiaries but active creators of history.

Meanwhile, a reporter from Correo del Orinoco noted that despite their different historical and cultural contexts, Vietnam's August Revolution and Venezuela's Bolivarian Revolution share striking similarities.

Reporters from Venezuelan media outlets asked questions at the event.

Both revolutions were built on a foundation of deep patriotism and a strong desire for self-determination, with the ultimate goal of bringing a better life to the people, with fairness and equality. Furthermore, the leaders of both countries recognized that achieving true independence required thoroughly addressing social and economic issues.

Regarding the commemorative activities marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, a reporter from the Latin American multinational media corporation TELESUR stated that TELESUR and Vietnam Television (VTV) recently held an online meeting to agree on reporting on the commemorative activities for this important event in Vietnam. This includes rebroadcasting VTV 's coverage of the military parade and march on the morning of September 2nd in Hanoi. The report emphasized that since its establishment in 2005, TELESUR has consistently followed and promptly reported on, publicized, and disseminated information about a heroic Vietnam in its struggle for independence and development in the new era, and about President Ho Chi Minh... aiming to help audiences in the Latin American region better understand the country and people of Vietnam.

At the event, reporters and scholars asked many questions related to the historical significance of the August Revolution and Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements over the past 80 years.

Regarding bilateral relations, a reporter from Globovision Television affirmed that Vietnam has many reasons to believe in the prospects of cooperation with Venezuela. With the desire and determination from both sides, Vietnam's dynamism and rapid economic development, coupled with Venezuela's recent economic stability and recovery, and its many untapped potentials, economic relations between Vietnam and Venezuela will certainly continue to flourish and be elevated to a new level, commensurate with the existing good political relations, serving the interests of the people of each country, and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in both countries and regions.
