The new Nu Village is gradually emerging.

The historic flood more than 2 months ago caused great loss of life and property in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district. After the natural disaster, Lang Nu received timely attention and support from the Government, localities and people across the country. With the spirit of determination to "Turn pain into action", the entire political system from the Central to the grassroots level and the people joined hands, unanimously, and urgently rebuilt Lang Nu village to be more beautiful, more livable, safer and more affectionate.

A "lightning campaign" to build the Lang Nu resettlement area was launched with the determination that before December 31, people in the flooded area will return to live in their new homes. Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bao Yen district, said: The damage caused by the flood is too great. With the determination to stabilize the lives of the people soon, on September 21 (10 days after the disaster), the People's Committee of Lao Cai province coordinated with the Tam Long Viet Fund - Vietnam Television to organize the groundbreaking ceremony to build the Lang Nu resettlement area, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district.

The new resettlement area is built on Sim hill, about 2km from the landslide point in Lang Nu village. The construction scale of phase I is about 10ha, arranged about 1,000m2/household; 40 houses are built with 2 floors (area 8x12m), designed according to the traditional stilt house of the Tay people with auxiliary works such as kitchen, toilet... In addition, the resettlement area will be built with a cultural house, school, infrastructure works including roads, electricity, water... to ensure stable and long-term living for people.

The reconstruction of Lang Nu has been, is and will continue to be carried out with the hope that this place will be more beautiful, more livable, safer and more affectionate. With that wish, Bao Yen District Party Committee issued a plan to build a "Happy Village" in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune. "The Party Committee, government and people of Lang Nu village are determined to build Lang Nu village into a livable place, increasingly developing synchronously and sustainably in terms of economy , culture, society, environment, national defense and security. Maintaining ecological balance, harmony with nature, national cultural identity; people have a stable, prosperous and happy life; soon complete the goals of building a new model rural area...", Mr. Nhat emphasized.

With such determination, Bao Yen district strives to move to the new village before December 31, 2024, and by the end of 2025, complete the basic features in Nu Village, such as: Spatial structure, landscape architecture are preserved and renovated, harmoniously combining tradition and modernity (resettlement house design); synchronous and convenient economic - social infrastructure, serving production well and meeting people's needs; bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe, civilized landscape environment, rich in traditional cultural identity; natural ecosystems are restored and renovated; traditional cultural and folk sports activities are preserved and promoted; people are supported to improve their capacity to develop production and business, create livelihoods, stable jobs on the spot, increase income...

From the land of pain and loss caused by natural disasters; the new Nu Village is gradually taking shape. On November 2, when inspecting the reconstruction of Nu Village, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Lao Cai Province will focus on 3 main goals to stabilize the lives of local people. In particular, reviewing and synthesizing people's needs for vocational training and job creation; restoring agricultural production, creating typical products of Nu Village; exploiting potentials and strengths, gradually turning Nu Village into a tourist destination...

The first houses were assembled and built at the Nu Village Resettlement Area.
